GEMStartup TOKYO: Cultivating New Business Endeavors

In an exciting initiative aimed at fostering new business ventures, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is hosting an event as part of the GEMStartup TOKYO project on July 8, 2023. This project seeks to leverage the knowledge and ideas developed within large private corporations to inspire entrepreneurship and innovation across various industries. The event is targeted at entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other professionals seeking to create new businesses in Tokyo.

The theme of this year’s event, titled "Realities and Breakthroughs in New Business Creation from Large Corporations," will include keynote speeches and panel discussions from leading entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in the field. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the dynamics of new business creation, making this a significant occasion for anyone keen on entrepreneurship.

Notable Speakers

- Minoru Moriya

A prominent figure in new business development, Moriya founded new venture company M-Out after working with MISUMI, and established Moriya Office in 2010. He has been instrumental in startups like Raksul and Carepro, with extensive advisory roles including at the Cabinet Office and as a visiting professor at Tokyo University of Science.

- Makoto Nishida

After 30 years at Toray Industries in the textile business, Nishida initiated the D2C project "MOONRAKERS," successfully fundraising millions through crowdfunding. In 2023, he founded MOONRAKERS TECHNOLOGIES, taking on the role of CEO.

- Yuta Watanabe

With nearly 20 years of experience in the automotive sales industry and a background in new business development, Watanabe launched Carjany in 2022, bringing innovation to vehicle selection processes.
