Envision Energy Unveils Gen 8: The Future of Energy Storage Technology
Envision Energy Introduces the Scalable Gen 8 Platform
Envision Energy, a leader in green technology, has unveiled its highly anticipated scalable platform, Gen 8, during its Tech Day event held in Beijing on October 27, 2025. This significant launch follows the introduction of the 8 MWh solution earlier this year at Intersolar, setting the stage for a complete portfolio of modular configurations designed to meet diverse requirements for integrating renewable energy in utility sectors, as well as for high-performance and decarbonization projects worldwide.
Enhancing Energy Density and Flexibility
The Gen 8 platform builds upon the skid-based, modular design of its predecessor, Gen 6, which delivers unparalleled on-site flexibility while minimizing the workload in facility balancing. This time, enhancements introduced with the Gen 7’s 5 MWh container are taken a step further with the inclusion of the new 750+ Ah cell, allowing for higher energy density. The combination of this enhanced energy density with a logistics-friendly 10-foot modular unit enables Gen 8 to adapt seamlessly to various project sites without compromising efficiency during transport, installation, or operation.
Envision's innovative design supports configurations ranging from 6 MWh to 12 MWh (and beyond) per unit. This flexibility permits customers to achieve the optimal balance between land availability, project economics, and performance requirements, thereby meeting their unique needs effectively.
Modular Flexibility and Advanced Safety Features
The modular 10-foot construction of Gen 8 promotes exceptional adaptability for projects of all sizes, smoothly supporting applications that require more than four hours of usage. Weighing under 29 tons per unit, it allows for hassle-free road transport, even in areas with strict weight restrictions on bridges or axles. The lighter modular design also grants customers the choice of using less heavy transport vehicles and cranes, improving equipment accessibility, reducing overall project costs, and minimizing the ground space needed for turning radii and lifting operations on-site.
Alternatively, heavier cranes can be implemented to install multiple energy storage units simultaneously, without requiring the crane to be repositioned, potentially reducing installation times by up to 30%. Furthermore, the advanced fire protection strategy employed ensures multi-layered safety — from the cell to the system level — conforming to the industry's strictest standards, alongside achieving an impressive 12% reduction in auxiliary power consumption.
Optimizing Costs and Increasing Returns
Each modular unit leverages a high-performance platform integrated with 750+ Ah cells, which not only boosts energy density but also reduces the footprint by 26% for typical four-hour systems and cuts auxiliary power consumption by 12%. This efficiency translates into lower total project costs and an extended lifecycle, thereby enhancing economic viability. Notably, for a 100 MW/4-hour project, the implementation of Gen 8 could yield an estimated increase of 1% in Internal Rate of Return (IRR) when compared to a 5 MWh baseline project.
Envision’s SCADA, EMS, and Hybrid PPC solutions are centered around an intelligent OT-IT ecosystem, facilitating comprehensive end-to-end control architecture for real-time management, predictive maintenance, and revenue optimization. The cloud-capable fleet management system employs machine learning to enhance performance and prolong system lifetimes, assuring maximum financial returns for each project.
With advanced analytics enabling the early detection of thermal and electrical anomalies, asset protection is prioritized, while predictive maintenance and adaptive system learning help systematically lower downtime and maintenance costs. Accurate State of Charge (SoC) and State of Energy (SoE) forecasting alongside optimized resource allocation aims to maximize revenue and overall project profitability.
Environmentally-Friendly Power Conversion
Envision Energy also debuted its second 10-MVA configuration, which consists of four parallel-coupled 2.5-MW PCS units. This modular design not only enhances system availability and reliability but also delivers a quieter operation compared to larger single machines — a crucial advantage in noise-sensitive environments. The system is engineered to endure harsh conditions, operating reliably in temperature ranges from -30°C to +55°C, while adhering to corrosion protection norms IP55 and C5, effectively withstanding salt, moisture, and severe outdoor conditions. The reduced noise level technology (≤55 dB(A)), harnessing optimized aerodynamics and control algorithms, minimizes air resistance and fan noise, making it ideal for environments sensitive to sound.
Gen 8 represents Envision Energy's unwavering commitment to delivering energy storage systems that merge technical excellence with practical adaptability. Rather than offering a single product, this series provides a comprehensive solutions family, empowering customers to design projects that cater to their specific needs while ensuring the highest levels of reliability and performance. By combining state-of-the-art storage technology, scalable manufacturing, and extensive system integration, the Gen 8 Scalable Platform not only fosters a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy future but also underscores the company's dedication to accelerating the global transition to renewable energy.
