Teikyo Junior College Students Join Local Summer Festival to Promote Community Engagement

Teikyo Junior College Students at Rokugosaka Noryo Matsuri

Teikyo Junior College, located in Shibuya, Tokyo, is participating as student volunteers in the annual community event, Rokugosaka Noryo Matsuri, marking a decade of engagement in such initiatives. Each year, approximately 30 students contribute to this cherished local festival. This year, the college takes a significant step further by inviting high school students to join as volunteers, fostering a spirit of community involvement and mutual support.

The Rokugosaka Noryo Matsuri is a traditional summer event that promotes interaction among residents. Teikyo Junior College students will be involved in various activities at the festival, such as setting up stalls, guiding attendees, providing event support, and ensuring clean-up. Through these efforts, they aim to enhance the festival experience for the community while engaging in meaningful service.

High school volunteers will work alongside the college students, gaining firsthand experience in event management and invaluable lessons about intergenerational collaboration and social contribution. This initiative welcomes participation from newcomers and encourages attendees to partake with friends, making it an enjoyable summer assignment!
