SINEXCEL and Wasion Energy Launch Groundbreaking Energy Storage Project in Central America
Groundbreaking Energy Storage Project in Central America
On July 10, 2025, a momentous step was taken towards renewable energy in Central America with the official launch of the Coopesantos wind energy storage system. This project is a collaboration between SINEXCEL and Wasion Energy and signifies a major milestone in the partnership between China and Costa Rica in the renewable energy sector.
The Coopesantos system is notable for being the first in Central America to utilize SINEXCEL's sophisticated energy storage inverter, boasting a capacity of 1,250 kW PCS. This advanced technology brings forth exceptional performance highlighted by three main benefits: intelligent management, enhanced safety, and environmental adaptability.
Intelligent Management
The system delivers remarkable operational efficiency by enabling peak load shaving, frequency regulation, and voltage support with a reliability rating exceeding 99%. This level of reliability is crucial as it helps stabilize the local energy grid during fluctuating demand periods, ensuring a consistent flow of energy.
Enhanced Safety
A key feature of the system is its Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) technology, which allows for cold starts and autonomous operations even in extreme conditions. This capability is pivotal for providing uninterrupted power supply to communities, mitigating the risks of power outages during natural disasters or other emergencies that might disrupt the electrical infrastructure.
Environmental Adaptability
The unique design of this energy storage solution addresses the specific environmental challenges faced by Central America, including high humidity, temperature variations, and frequent seismic activity. With increased seismic resistance and moisture protection, the Coopesantos project is well-equipped to operate effectively within the region's distinct climatic conditions.
Prior to the system's launch, a technical seminar attracted attention from various stakeholders, including national energy authorities, industry experts, and international clients. The seminar served as a platform to demonstrate the global competitiveness of SINEXCEL’s energy storage technology, and the feedback received was overwhelmingly positive.
The success of the Coopesantos project represents a strategic breakthrough for SINEXCEL as it marks the company's entry into the Central American market, aligning with its global expansion objectives. Looking ahead, SINEXCEL remains committed to accelerating the energy transition and promoting energy independence across Latin America and beyond.
