Sakanaction's 'Good Night Planetarium' Returns!
After a decade, 'Sakanaction's Good Night Planetarium' will be making a comeback at Konica Minolta Planetarium Manten in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, starting May 29, 2026. This beloved show, originally created to celebrate the planetarium's renovation in 2015, has gained immense popularity, attracting over 60,000 visitors since its revival at the Planetarium Tenku in Oshiage last December.
A Journey Through Music and Stars
The collaboration between music and celestial wonders creates an unforgettable experience. Visitors will find themselves immersed in a world where the entire dome transforms into an artistic spectacle. Along with visually stunning projections, the music of Sakanaction, skillfully adapted for the planetarium's surround sound system, plays a significant role. Tracks like 'Music,' 'Goodbye,' and 'Eureka' envelop the audience, setting the scene for a mystical journey from the nightlife of Tokyo to the expansive cosmos above.
Acclaimed internationally, 'Good Night Planetarium' has won prestigious awards at festivals such as the Immersive Festival Madrid 2016 for Best Fulldome Music Show and the Public Choice Award at the Immersive Film Festival 2017 in Portugal.
The Voice of Sakanaction
The narration for this artistic experience is provided by Ichiro Yamaguchi, the lead vocalist of Sakanaction. His literary and philosophical lyricism complements the enchanting visuals, guiding viewers through a poetic narrative that blends seamlessly with the vast night sky created by the planetarium.
A Unique Technological Experience
This show's origins lie in the newly renovated Konica Minolta Planetarium Manten, which introduced the innovative optical planetarium 'InfiniumΣ.' This cutting-edge technology offers a strikingly clear and sharp starry sky, immersing audiences in an extraordinary 3D spatial experience. The interpretation of space and depth truly elevates the entire experience, enhancing the sense of floating through the cosmos.
As the music synchronizes with the twinkling stars, each one appears to come alive against the endless blackness of the night, creating a truly mesmerizing atmosphere. Every performance of 'Good Night Planetarium' promises to transport audiences as though they are drifting within the universe itself.
