A New Era of Fact-Checking: Join the Youth Fact-Checking Championship 2025!
As misinformation spreads rapidly in today's digital landscape, learning to discern the validity of information has never been more crucial. The Youth Fact-Checking Championship 2025 aims to address this growing challenge by inviting participants between the ages of 12 and 24 to compete in a unique and engaging environment.
Aiming for the Top: What Is the Youth Fact-Checking Championship?
Organized by Classroom Adventure in collaboration with the Japan Fact-Checking Center (JFC), this championship not only serves as a national qualifier for the
GenAsia'25 Challenge but also as a platform to improve the research skills of young individuals, all while having fun. Scheduled to take place on
November 29, 2025, this competition will allow the top three teams to represent Japan at the international level on
December 13, 2025.
Competing with the Best
The Youth Fact-Checking Championship isn't just about winning; it's about learning and sharing knowledge. Participants will face various challenges designed to enhance their ability to evaluate information critically. The competition will include exciting pre-events where participants can hone their skills in a supportive environment, whether online or in person.
The Structure of the Competition
To prepare for this event, Classroom Adventure has introduced pre-events that will further develop participants' skills. On
November 9, 2025, a face-to-face pre-event will be held in
Shibuya, offering a hands-on experience with a fact-checking game and simulations based on past challenges. Furthermore, an online kickoff event will take place on
November 22, 2025, ensuring anyone can participate regardless of location.
Prizes Await the Winners
The stakes are high! The championship offers a total prize pool of approximately ¥300,000. The top three teams will be awarded prizes including:
- - 1st Place: $1,000 (about ¥150,000)
- - 2nd Place: $600 (about ¥90,000)
- - 3rd Place: $400 (about ¥60,000)
Focus on Education and Enjoyment
The core mission of the championship is not only to bring awareness of fact-checking but also to infuse enjoyment into the process of searching for truth. With Classroom Adventure’s commitment to innovative educational practices, this event promises an engaging learning experience for all involved.
In last year's competition, over
3,400 participants took part, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Contestants tackled a variety of challenges that tested their creativity and collaboration skills while competing against peers from across the globe. This year, expectations are even higher, with organizers looking to double participation and enhance the overall experience.
Beyond Competition: Building a Safer Online Community
Both Classroom Adventure and JFC aim to foster a culture of responsible information consumption and creation. In an age where information spreads like wildfire, empowering the youth to navigate through misinformation is paramount. The championship does not just serve as an event; it acts as a catalyst for change, encouraging participants to engage actively with the media they consume.
