Giant Smartphone Sculptures Celebrating Miami's Art and Technology Scene

Giant Smartphone Sculptures Celebrate Miami's Art and Business Landscape

In a vibrant fusion of creativity and technology, Comcast Business has launched an innovative art initiative in Miami-Dade County featuring impressive nine-foot-tall smartphone sculptures. This project, unveiled on June 9, 2025, aims to underscore the critical role of mobile technology in business today while celebrating the city’s dynamic arts community.

A Beacon of Connectivity and Creativity

Designed in collaboration with four local artists, these larger-than-life structure sculptures are now gracing four high-traffic locations throughout the county. Each statue serves as a representation of Miami's rich culture, entrepreneurial spirit, and artistic vibrancy. The sculptures can be seen at:

  • - Miami International Mall – Artwork by Brian Butler (Instagram: @upperhandart)
  • - The Shops at Midtown – Artwork by Abstrk (Instagram: @abstrk)
  • - Shops at Merrick Park – Artwork by Jose Mertz (Instagram: @josemertz)
  • - Wynwood Marketplace – Artwork by Atomik (Instagram: @atomiko)

Each of these art pieces not only reflects the artists’ unique styles but also symbolizes how mobile solutions empower small businesses to thrive in today’s fast-paced environment. Rich Rollins, Vice President of Business Services for Comcast's Florida Region, emphasized the importance of blending art and technology: "Miami is home to some of the most creative, skilled, and talented artists in the country. We’re proud to partner with four of them to celebrate the intersection of art and technology."

Meet the Artists Behind the Sculptures

The artists participating in this initiative each bring their own distinct backgrounds and perspectives:

  • - Abstrk (Enrique Mastrapa Jr.) is a self-taught, multidisciplinary Cuban American artist whose work incorporates elements of digital art, murals, and product design. His style combines graffiti with traditional fine art and pop culture, highlighting the eclectic identity of Miami.
  • - Atomik, known for his iconic orange character, emerged from Miami's graffiti scene and now displays his art across six continents. His work encompasses various mediums, including street signs and urban objects, to express his unique take on the city's heritage with a contemporary twist.
  • - Brian Butler focuses on the unique chemistry of the Miami landscape, drawing inspiration from the vibrant ecosystems along its coast. His work underscores the diversity found not only in nature but in the artistic community that thrives in the city.
  • - Jose Mertz, a contemporary visual artist, merges graphic design, illustration, and street art, exploring themes of cultural identity and spirituality. He sees Miami as a creative force, fostering innovation across various artistic disciplines.

Community Engagement and Business Support

This initiative also includes an exciting opportunity for businesses within Miami-Dade: a chance to win a $15,000 grand prize. Participants can enter the sweepstakes by scanning a QR code located on any of the sculptures. The winner will be announced during the week of July 7, 2025. Jeff Buzzelli, Comcast’s Senior Vice President for Florida Region, stated, “We love being a part of the business community in Miami-Dade County. Whether large or small, we’re here to support all businesses and help them grow.”

The smartphone sculptures will be on display until the end of June, serving as a reminder of the importance of connectivity in today’s business landscape. Comcast Business invites the local community to visit these eye-catching installations and celebrate the vibrant intersection of art and technology in Miami.
