Kantor & Kantor, LLP Welcomes New Partner

Kantor & Kantor, LLP, a well-regarded law firm dedicated to advocating for employees, retirees, and their families, has recently announced the appointment of Kirsten Scott as a partner in their San Francisco office. This strategic move, effective June 15, 2026, is set to enhance the firm's services in the area of ERISA employee benefits litigation.

A Focused Addition to the Pension Practice Group

Kirsten Scott will join the firm's Pension Practice Group, where she will leverage nearly two decades of experience to address a broad spectrum of employee benefits issues. Her areas of expertise include pension and disability claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), disability retirement claims pertaining to the San Francisco Employees' Retirement System (SFERS), as well as class action lawsuits regarding severance and health benefits. This significant addition fortifies Kantor & Kantor's already formidable team of employee benefits litigators who provide services not only in California but across the United States.

Enthusiastic Welcome from Senior Management

Susan Meter, a senior partner at Kantor & Kantor, expressed her excitement about Scott's arrival: "We are very excited to welcome Kirsten Scott to the firm's Pension practice group. Her dedication to advocating for participants and retirees aligns perfectly with our mission. Kirsten's unparalleled expertise in employee benefits law will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our attorney team." Meter is confident that Scott's extensive knowledge will markedly enhance their litigation capabilities in employee benefits cases.

Kirsten Scott's Impressive Background

Before joining Kantor & Kantor, Scott showcased her legal prowess while earning a noteworthy reputation in the field. Not haphazardly, she played a pivotal role in a landmark decision in 2017, which was delivered by the California Court of Appeal regarding public employee retiree benefits in the case of Irvin v. Contra Costa County Employees' Retirement Association. Additionally, Scott's representation of retirees in Beeson v. Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., Inc. culminated in a remarkable $36.8 million judgment after a protracted civil trial. Such accomplishments highlight her proficiency in navigating complex employee benefits litigation.

Recognized as a thought leader, Scott has consistently earned the title of a Northern California Super Lawyer for Employee Benefits/ERISA since 2019. Furthermore, she has been honored as one of the Top Women Attorneys in Northern California from 2022 to 2024. In her professional affiliations, Scott serves as Co-Chair of the Employee Benefits Committee of the National Employment Lawyers' Association (NELA) and has previously chaired similar committees within the American Bar Association (ABA).

Commitment to Community and Education

Scott is not only dedicated to her clients but is also deeply involved in community service. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for Environmental Traveling Companions, a nonprofit organization based in San Francisco focused on making outdoor recreational activities accessible to individuals with disabilities. Additionally, she contributes her time as a supervising attorney at Legal Aid at Work’s Workers’ Rights Clinic, where she has been active since her graduation from law school.

Looking Forward

In her own words, Scott expresses her enthusiasm, stating, "I am thrilled to join Kantor & Kantor's experienced and esteemed team of employee benefits lawyers. For almost two decades, I have been dedicated to assisting employees and retirees in safeguarding their hard-earned benefits. I cherish the relationships I build with my clients to effectively guide them through the complexities of the legal system. I am eager to continue this essential work at a firm I hold in high regard."
