Zespakids Experience an Unforgettable Day at a J-League Match
On May 3, 2025, under a bright blue sky, a special event unfolded at the Shoda Shoyu Stadium Gunma, the home ground of the J-League team, Thespakusa Gunma. In a unique collaboration between GLOBALTREE and Thespak, children from the Zespakids after-school service made a memorable entrance onto the pitch alongside professional soccer players as 'Escort Kids'.
A New Initiative for Disabilities and Sports
The Zespakids program, a groundbreaking after-school service dedicated to children with disabilities, was established within the new Thespak clubhouse at GCC Zespark. In an industry-first collaboration between J-League Thespakusa Gunma and welfare organization GLOBALTREE, the program integrates soccer therapy, providing inclusive growth opportunities by respecting diversity. These are not just services; they are gates to experiences that help children blossom.
Creating Meaningful Experiences
This initiative sprung from the idea of merging sports and welfare to create a project that enriches children’s lives by connecting them with the outside world. Through this experience, the aim is for them to discover their potential and self-worth in a supportive environment.
On the day of the event, children nervously gathered, but as they neared the entrance gate, their demeanor changed. They straightened their spines and, hand-in-hand with the players, strode confidently onto the pitch amidst cheers and applause, earning awe and admiration from staff and families watching. Their transformation from apprehension to confidence illustrates the depth of this experience—it was more than mere participation; it was a true challenge.
Exploring the Stadium
In addition to the escorting experience, a special guided tour was held before the match, allowing the children to explore areas usually off-limits, including the player benches and broadcasting booth. This opportunity to witness the behind-the-scenes of a major event enriched their understanding and excitement about the world of professional sports.
The children shared their enthusiasm, saying things like, “I was nervous but had a blast!” and “I want to do this again!” Parents expressed their joy, stating how amazed they were to see children who usually shy away from crowds walk confidently on the pitch.

Moving forward, GLOBALTREE aims to foster cooperation between welfare, education, and sports sectors, encouraging children to embrace challenges.
