The story revolves around the courageous daughter,
Rugna, who embarks on a daring adventure to rescue her beloved Polar Bear King Valemon from a terrible curse. Alongside three talented singers and a small orchestra, children will be transported into a magical realm filled with music and wonder.
The opera is directed by
Tomoyo Sugao, a seasoned director with significant experience in children's opera productions. Sugao is currently the Chief Director and Deputy Head of the Opera Department at the Cottbus State Theatre in Germany, where she has made a name for herself in the opera industry. Assisting in this adventure will be the highly regarded soprano
Noriko Tanetani, who plays the role of Rugna and is known for her captivating performances on various prestigious stages.

However, when she breaks a crucial promise one night, Valemon is captured by the fearsome Troll Queen. Determined to rescue him, Rugna sets off on a perilous journey with unwavering love. Performance Details
The children's opera 'The Story of the Polar Bear King Valemon' will take place on September 12 and 13, 2026, at the Tokyo Arts Theatre's Theatre East. Ticket prices are set at 3,000 yen for general admission and 1,500 yen for students (from elementary school to high school). Tickets will be available for purchase starting June 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
