Kinetics Takes a Major Step in Floating LNG Infrastructure

Kinetics, a pioneering initiative of Karpowership, has officially commenced the construction of its first high-capacity Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), named LNGT Karadeniz. This significant milestone was marked by an official steel-cutting ceremony held at Seatrium shipyard in Singapore's Tuas district. With a remarkable regasification capacity of up to 600 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd), this vessel represents a pivotal development in Kinetics' strategic plan to enhance its floating LNG infrastructure globally.

The LNGT Karadeniz is designed to feature distribution systems capable of handling low, medium, and high-pressure operations. This versatility will enable Kinetics to meet a diverse range of LNG import projects and downstream gas network requirements. Such advancements signify Kinetics' commitment to providing more extensive and versatile LNG import solutions, thereby enhancing national energy security and aiding in the diversification of energy sources for various countries.

Moreover, the vessel aligns with Kinetics’ long-term strategy of expanding its fleet of floating LNG facilities to cater to the growing global demand for flexible gas infrastructure. The integration of advanced regasification technology along with maritime and port systems will ensure that the LNGT Karadeniz delivers a comprehensive floating LNG reception solution with rapid deployment and efficient operation capabilities.

As the first in a series of next-generation FSRUs, LNGT Karadeniz will further bolster Kinetics’ portfolio of floating LNG installations. The vessel will incorporate a high-capacity regasification module, a slack mooring system, LNG transfer and cargo handling systems, technical facilities, an electrical distribution network, as well as cutting-edge automation and control technologies. All these features will create a fully integrated floating terminal that meets stringent operational and safety standards.
