Join the Japan-Korea Producers Exchange!



Date: Application Deadline: July 31
The Japan-Korea Producers Exchange, initiated by the Non-Profit Corporation, Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO) and the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), aims to enhance international co-productions and collaborations between Japan and Korea. We are organizing this event during the film festival seasons in both countries.

Event Overview


The upcoming Producer Exchange will happen in two parts across two major festivals:
1. Busan International Film Festival - Asian Content & Film Market (ACFM)
- Dates: September 20-21
- This is a vibrant market that highlights the best of Asian cinema and provides networking opportunities.

2. Tokyo International Film Festival - TIFFCOM
- Dates: October 29-31
- TIFFCOM is a prominent market in Japan that is a must-attend for filmmakers looking to make connections in the industry.

Key Features of the Event


Participants can expect valuable experiences including:
  • - Presentations on incentives from both countries, alongside seminars showcasing successful case studies.
  • - Opportunities to pitch your projects and ideas to key stakeholders.
  • - One-on-one meetings with Korean producers and creators, perfect for establishing partnerships.
  • - Networking sessions aimed at fostering collaboration amongst participants.

Eligibility Criteria


To participate, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • - Hold at least one producer or director credit on a feature film or series released in theaters or streaming platforms since 2020.
  • - Come equipped with a project to pitch during the event.
  • - Be fluent in English for meetings and events since they will be held in English.
  • - Be available for the entirety of both events.
  • - Agree to participate in post-event surveys for feedback purposes.
Producers or directors with experience in international co-productions, particularly with Korea, will be favorably considered.

Benefits of Participation


Selected participants will receive:
  • - A registration pass for the Busan International Film Festival ACFM market.
  • - Round-trip economy class air tickets to Busan.
  • - Accommodation costs for four nights from September 19-22 in Busan.
  • - A registration pass for the Tokyo International Film Festival TIFFCOM market.
Note: Participants will need to cover their domestic travel expenses in Japan.

Selection Process


The final participants will be selected based on document submissions and capacity limitations. Notifications on selection results will be made by mid-August. Please note that cancellations after application submissions will not be accommodated.

KOFIC and VIPO have had a cooperative agreement since 2006 to promote the growth of the visual content industry and strengthen cultural exchanges between Japan and Korea. An agreement was reaffirmed during last year’s Busan International Film Festival between KOFIC Chairman Han Sang-jun (appointed June 2024) and VIPO Executive Director Sanei Ichii, leading to the realization of this event.
