Imagine Learning Partners with School District of Philadelphia for Summer Institute
In a significant move to enhance literacy education, Imagine Learning, the largest provider of digital-first curriculum solutions in the United States, has announced its active involvement in the School District of Philadelphia's Summer Institute scheduled for June 23–27, 2025. This initiative aims to provide extensive training and resources to over 1,050 educators and administrators, focusing on best practices for implementing high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) aimed at the forthcoming academic year.
This year marks the second installment of the Summer Institute, which is set to almost double the participation from the previous year, highlighting the School District of Philadelphia's (SDP) dedicated approach to improving literacy outcomes across the board. By partnering with Imagine Learning EL Education, the training program will offer educators the necessary tools and in-depth support required to foster engaging, effective, and equitable instruction tailored for every student.
The collaboration aims not only to equip educators with theoretical knowledge but also to incorporate practical classroom insights directly from SDP educators. This feedback loop is crucial for guiding Imagine Learning’s ongoing strategy development, ensuring that their solutions adapt to meet the evolving needs of modern classrooms at scale.
Superintendent Dr. Tony B. Watlington Sr. emphasized the district's commitment to academic achievement that extends beyond just improving test scores. He stated, "We want our students to feel empowered, engaged, and confident in their literacy skills." Dr. Watlington's vision aims to leverage science-based reading principles in tandem with Imagine Learning's proven methods, making instructional practices more personalized and genuinely equitable.
Kinsey Rawe, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Imagine Learning, echoed this sentiment by stating, “Our mission is to empower educators, ensuring they feel prepared to assist every student on their unique learning journeys.” Rawe expressed pride in collaborating with SDP for the Summer Institute and stressed the importance of this initiative in fostering educational equity.
Furthermore, as part of the ongoing commitment to celebrate students’ accomplishments, a special recognition dinner will be co-hosted by SDP, Imagine Learning, and the Free Library of Philadelphia. This event will honor 15 talented students in grades K–8 for their exemplary EL Reading projects, showcasing the potential of high-quality, evidence-based instruction.
