AD Works Group Completes the Second Power Storage Facility
AD Works Group, a company based in Tokyo and recognized for its real estate investment solutions, has officially finished developing its second power storage facility named "ADW Kumamoto Mashiki Storage Facility". This new facility, located in Kumamoto Prefecture, signifies a pivotal step in the company’s strategy to embrace renewable energy and contribute to the stabilization of energy supply and demand.
Overview of the Facility
The "ADW Kumamoto Mashiki Storage Facility" boasts a capacity of approximately 2 MW and can store about 8 MWh of energy. It was completed and handed over on August 31, 2026. After successfully connecting to the power grid and completing trial operations, the facility is now set to operate in the wholesale electricity market.
Additionally, it has passed the preliminary examination required for participation in the supply-demand adjustment market, with plans to enter this market by the end of November 2026. This facility is the second of its kind operated by AD Works, following the inaugural "ADW Mie Matsusaka Storage Facility".
The Importance of Power Storage
As the demand for renewable energy increases, the need for reliable infrastructure to manage fluctuations in energy supply and demand has become critical. The ADW Kumamoto facility will play a substantial role as an adjustment infrastructure to support not only the renewable energy sector but also the rising power consumption from data centers and AI technologies.
The company views this initiative as a significant contributor to solving societal issues and bolstering its vision of achieving a pre-tax profit of 20 billion yen by 2034.
Future Plans
In response to the success of their first facility and the increasing demand for energy management solutions, AD Works is expanding its target from acquiring 10 to 15 storage facilities by the end of the year. By accruing experience across multiple storage sites, AD Works aims to enhance its operational know-how and subsequently broaden their revenue opportunities.
The comprehensive strategy includes ongoing development of new locations for future facilities while ensuring substantial operational success to establish a strong position in the mid to long-term energy market.
A Commitment to Community
In light of the recent earthquake that struck Kumamoto, the AD Works Group has expressed its condolences for those who lost their lives. The company assures that, as of the release date, there have been no confirmed impacts on the facility’s operations due to the earthquake, and expresses its hope for the prompt recovery and rebuilding of the affected regions.
As AD Works continues to develop its energy storage infrastructure, it holds a firm belief in not just fostering growth, but also in contributing to a sustainable future driven by renewable energy solutions.
