Introducing Cear Connect
Cear Corporation, headquartered in Taito, Tokyo, has unveiled its latest innovation,
Cear Connect, set to be officially introduced at the
Cear Technology Conference 2026 (CTC 2026) scheduled for March 26, 2026. This next-generation audio control protocol aims to revolutionize how audio devices are managed and their parameters transmitted.
Background and Challenges
The newly developed compact speaker,
Cear pavé, has seen widespread adoption in live venues, art exhibitions, and sports facilities. Users have expressed a desire for more control options, such as equalizer settings, the ability to control multiple pavé units simultaneously, and easier installation and setup processes.
With the growing interest in applications utilizing wavefront synthesis, developers have also recognized a need for an effective control mechanism to manage a large number of these units. This feedback from users and the demand for improved features have directly led to the creation of
Cear Connect.
What is Cear Connect?
Cear Connect is defined as a
universal protocol layer for audio device control and parameter transmission that is independent of transport mechanisms. By integrating four different standards—
USB HID,
Bluetooth® LE (GATT),
Bluetooth® LE Audio Periodic Advertisement, and
Auracast™—this protocol enables seamless real-time control of numerous audio devices using just a smartphone.
Key Features of Cear Connect:
- - Modification of internal device parameters: Users can adjust bitrate, latency, and sound stage settings with ease.
- - Bulk control of multiple devices: Users can manage settings and configurations for several devices at once, allowing for quick restorations and distribution of settings.
- - Auracast™-based sound field control: This feature enables dynamic audio manipulation to enhance user experiences further.
- - Transport-independent access: The protocol ensures that existing wired and wireless devices can connect and be controlled without dependency on specific transport methods.
OEM Modules for Cear Connect
Cear pavé will now come in a modular format, featuring a software stack compatible with
Cear Connect. These modules will support Auracast™ reception and playback along with parameter reception via LE Audio PA. They allow for straightforward integration into manufacturers' products, enabling easy entry into the Cear ecosystem. Mass production of these modules is slated for April 2026.
Successful Implementations of Spatial Audio
Cear's audio technology is already being utilized in significant domestic and international venues and events, such as:
- - EXPO 2025 Osaka/Kansai — Spatial audio for the UK Pavilion
- - Sapporo Snow Festival 2026 — Spatial audio installation at “The Snow Lounge”
Seeking Early Partners
Cear Corporation is currently inviting interested companies to join as early partners in the Cear Connect ecosystem. Following the mass production and shipment of Cear Connect modules in April 2026, these partners will have the opportunity to co-develop and commercialize new products.
