Celebrating 60 Years: Concert Highlighting Beloved Japanese Hits in 2026

A Celebration of Timeless Music

In the realm of Japanese music, certain songs transcend generations, creating memories and preserving a rich cultural heritage. As 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of landmark tracks like "Imjin River" and "Kaettekita Yopparai," fans are set to gather for the nostalgic event, "An Amazing Song Once Again Concert 2026 Tokyo," scheduled for September 18, 2026. This event will celebrate the life and work of the renowned artist, Kitayama Osamu, who will be turning 80 this year.

The concert series, initiated in 2018, embraces the concept of bringing together artists and audiences to enjoy classic hits that have colored their lives. The concert's title is inspired by Kitayama Osamu's iconic lyrics from the 1971 hit song, "An Amazing Love Once Again," illustrating themes of shared experiences and collective memories, be it through fireworks, family photographs, or school memories.

Historically, the concert has attracted significant attention, particularly from the middle-aged demographic, with approximately 10,000 attendees in its early years at the Nippon Budokan. While the pandemic forced a cancellation in 2020, the concert successfully returned to the Tokyo International Forum Hall A in 2021, keeping the energy and excitement alive. Interest has only grown since then, making it a yearly highlight for fans, crossing age demographics as the show welcomes attendees from all generations.

This upcoming event will mark the eighth time the concert has taken place in Tokyo, featuring beloved artists like Kitayama Osamu, Sakazaki Yukinose, Shimizu Michiko, Sugita Jiro, Kumiko, Minami Kosetsu, and Moriyama Ryoko. Additionally, Naoto Kine from TM NETWORK will make his second appearance, alongside popular drag queen Dorian Lolo Brigidia. The festivities will be expertly hosted by Nippon Broadcasting System personality, Ueyanagi Masahiko.

Reflecting on the music that defined the era, The Folk Crusaders released their self-produced album, "Harenchi," in 1967, featuring "Imjin River" and "Kaettekita Yopparai." These songs gained immense popularity after being aired by radio stations in Kyoto and Kobe, which coincided with a surge in late-night radio shows, ultimately making these tracks chart-toppers. As this vibrant music scene celebrates its 60th year, expectations are high for Kitayama Osamu and The Folk Crusaders, who have influenced countless artists throughout the years, marking this concert as a pivotal event in Japanese cultural history.
