TAG Celebrates Activism with Honors for Gloria Reuben and Others at the 2025 Research in Action Awards

TAG to Celebrate Activism at 2025 Research in Action Awards

The Treatment Action Group (TAG) is set to host its highly anticipated annual Research in Action Awards on October 20, 2025, at the elegant Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York City. This event promises to be an inspiring evening honoring three remarkable leaders: Gloria Reuben, Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, and Richard Lynn. Their tireless efforts in activism and service underscore TAG's commitment to those affected by HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Honorees and Their Impact

Gloria Reuben is a multifaceted talent known not only for her acting but also for her work as a singer and author. She gained fame as Jeanie Boulet on the acclaimed television series ER, where her character's journey through testing positive for HIV resonated with many viewers. Reuben continues to make her mark in the industry, most recently starring in Blue Bloods on CBS.

Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo is a notable figure in the medical field, having been appointed the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the NIH in September 2023. Despite facing challenges, including an unjust dismissal from her role, Dr. Marrazzo remains a vocal advocate for public health and was courageous enough to file a whistleblower lawsuit when she felt her removal was politically motivated.

Richard Lynn, a dedicated TAG board member since 1998, brings a wealth of experience as an activist and philanthropist. His roots in chemistry led him to engage with ACT UP, advocating for treatment access and community involvement in the fight against AIDS. His partnership with another TAG supporter and 2017 RIAA honoree, Joseph Evall, amplifies the message of community and collaboration.

Evening Highlights

The awards ceremony will also feature a special musical performance by Lorna Luft, a celebrated singer and actress, who carries on the legacy of her mother, Judy Garland. This addition promises to enhance the celebratory atmosphere of the event.

In conjunction with the awards, TAG will unveil a new Limited Art Edition. Curated by board member Joy Episalla, this year’s art piece, titled George Platt Lynes Scrapbook Pages, is created by New York-based artist Matthew Leifheit. Known for his impactful photographic work, Leifheit’s art pieces have gained recognition in leading publications such as The New York Times and The New Yorker.

Supporting the Cause

Every ticket purchased and donation received for the Research in Action Awards plays a crucial role in advancing TAG’s mission to provide life-saving prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care, and educational resources to those affected by HIV, TB, and HCV. The event serves not only as an honor for the awardees but also as a fundraiser to support vital initiatives in public health.

Join TAG in celebrating the impactful contributions of these leaders and be part of an event that underscores the importance of community, activism, and support in the ongoing fight against these diseases. For further details about the event and to purchase tickets, visit TAG's official website.
