Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has taken a monumental step in emergency medicine with the announcement of the first-ever EMS-driven drone delivery program for whole blood in the United States. This groundbreaking initiative, developed in collaboration with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, aims to accelerate blood delivery to the scene of traumatic injuries, effectively enhancing the chances of survival for patients in critical condition.

Timed perfectly with the rise of drone technology, TGH's new service promises to drastically cut down the average transport time of blood to less than three minutes across a substantial coverage area of 70 square miles within Hillsborough County.
