NAMJATOWN Celebrates 30 Years of Fun and Excitement
On July 6, 2026, NAMJATOWN, an indoor theme park located in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, will proudly celebrate its 30th anniversary. Developed by Bandai Namco Experience, this beloved urban theme park first opened its doors on July 6, 1996, with a concept focused on creating a space filled with memories and excitement. Over the years, it has evolved with attractions like the street exploration of "Nanjabi" and the ride experiences such as "Explosive! Mosquito Catcher Operations," alongside being a pioneer of food-themed attractions with the "Ikebukuro Gyoza Stadium."
As part of the 30th-anniversary celebration, NAMJATOWN will undergo a significant renovation. Visitors can expect a redesigned entrance that offers an open and accessible atmosphere, allowing passersby from the Sunshine City vicinity to feel the vibrancy of the park. This transformation aims to create a more inviting space, bridging the exterior with the dynamic experiences inside.
New Attractions to Look Forward To
"Taiko no Tatsujin: Dōn’t Let It Get Big!"
One of the highlights will be the introduction of a new attraction based on the popular "Taiko no Tatsujin" games. Scheduled to open on the same day, this new experience allows two players to physically strike the large taiko drum using their sticks, generating exciting sounds and vibrations. Visitors will enjoy an energetic atmosphere as they tap along to popular tunes that fill the air, making it fun for both kids and adults alike.
"Everyone's Research: Ultra Tamagotchi Lab"
In addition to the drum attraction, another eagerly anticipated installation around winter 2026 will celebrate another milestone — the 30th anniversary of Tamagotchi. "Everyone's Research: Ultra Tamagotchi Lab" will immerse participants in the delightful world of Tamagotchis, featuring interactive elements inspired by the recent "Tamagotchi Paradise" release. This attraction promises to engage both seasoned Tamagotchi enthusiasts and newcomers by offering various enjoyable activities.
A Message from the Management
According to Yusuke Minagawa, the Division Manager of Bandai Namco Experience's CX Park Division, NAMJATOWN’s revitalization will blend its unique world view with new entertainment experiences, ensuring enjoyment for visitors of all ages. The aim is to create a theme park that not only pays homage to its 30-year legacy but also embraces innovation in interactive entertainment, capturing the hearts of both loyal customers and first-time visitors alike.
Meet Najavu: The Symbolic Character
NAMJATOWN’s beloved mascot, Najavu, shared his excitement for the anniversary as well. He commented on the nostalgia of seeing visitors who may have grown up with the park now bringing their own children to enjoy the festivities. To celebrate this milestone, Najavu assures guests of a revamped celebration that promises even more joy and festivities.
With various exciting changes on the horizon, NAMJATOWN is gearing up to continue its legacy of providing a thrilling blend of nostalgia, innovative attractions, and interactive IP experiences. As this beloved theme park approaches its 30th birthday, it’s the perfect time for both new and returning visitors to experience the magic once more.
