Exploring New Horizons: Children's Footwear Experience at Osaka-Kansai Expo
In a captivating exhibition at the Osaka-Kansai Expo held on August 6-7, 2025, Chiyoda Corporation introduced an exciting interactive experience under the theme "Walking into the Future: For Little Feet." This event was part of the "Future Summit" of the World Children's Future Conference, supported by the United Nations. The immersive display aimed to address the concerns of children regarding their footwear, showcasing innovative solutions and engaging activities.
Families eagerly flocked to the booth to experience the fun of the innovative "spat shoes," designed specifically for young wearers. The exhibition creatively expressed the booth's theme using vibrant colors and playful circular motifs to create a joyful atmosphere. Children voiced their common footwear-related struggles, such as finding it hard to walk when carrying heavy backpacks or stepping on the backs of their shoes when rushing to play, underscoring the genuine perspective of young users. The playful speech bubbles encapsulating these sentiments invited numerous echoes of recognition from attendees, many of whom exclaimed, “I can relate to that!”
The booth also featured the popular iwako erasers as promotional items, which received enthusiastic responses from children, further enhancing the memorable experience.
During the two-day exhibit, approximately 450 children participated in the "spat experience," far exceeding the initial expectations with 332 completed surveys. This remarkable engagement drew the attention of regional media outlets, including Kansai TV and ABC Broadcasting, amplifying the allure and recognition of the spat shoes among the public. Chiyoda Corporation's commitment to addressing children's footwear challenges resonated strongly, fostering a deep connection with attendees.
As the collaborative design partner for Chiyoda's booth, our involvement encompassed the spatial design of the exhibit, structuring the experience events, operational planning, and creating promotional materials.
