The Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics have provided an incredible platform for athletes to demonstrate their skills, and one standout performance came from Miku Kadowaki, representing Tokyo Power Technology. With great determination, she competed in the women's 4x100m relay, securing a commendable sixth place finish with a time of 50.16 seconds.

Tokyo Power Technology, headquartered in Koto City, Tokyo, has a mission to promote diversity and inclusion within the workplace. Miku's journey to the Deaflympics has been marked by challenges and resolute determination. After deciding to return to competitive sports three years ago, she faced setbacks, including a significant injury just weeks before the event. Despite these hurdles, Miku was able to make it to the starting line, albeit not without feelings of dissatisfaction regarding her performance. In her own words, Miku stated, "The race didn’t go exactly as I envisioned, and there’s a sense of regret. However, the overwhelming support from everyone allowed me to witness astonishing moments, making me truly grateful for my comeback."

Reflecting on her time since returning to athletics, Miku recalls the difficulties of finding training methods that suited her. Yet, throughout this journey, the encouragement she received became a profound source of strength: "The process of re-entering sports, along with the warmth from those around me, has been incredibly empowering and valuable."

Looking ahead, Miku remains uncertain but is driven by a desire to nurture younger athletes. As long as she is chosen as a relay team member, she expresses her unwavering intent to continue competing. Her heartfelt gratitude for the immense support that accompanied her journey resonates deeply: "Your unwavering support charged me with energy. I truly appreciate it, and I look forward to your continued encouragement."

Tokyo Power Technology is invested in promoting diversity and inclusion within society through its support for athletes like Miku. Currently, the company has a partnership agreement with the Japan Deaf Athletics Association and serves as an official partner to the Japan Deaf Soccer Association. Their initiatives not only contribute to the development and popularization of sports for individuals with disabilities but also foster understanding and promote inclusivity within the organization.

The company proudly supports a total of five deaf athletes, which includes Miku Kadowaki, Tomonai Nagai, and Hiroto Kitaya, alongside two incoming athletes Ryo Takizawa and Rio Toyama, set to join in April 2026. Each of these athletes represents more than just their sporting skills; they embody the values of hard work and respect for diversity. By actively engaging in company events and outreach, they contribute to enhancing awareness around disability sports and inclusivity within the corporate environment.
