OMC Lineup Introduces New Groups in Osaka



The OMC Lineup, managed by the Theatre Workshop, located at the Ogimachi Museum Cube in Osaka, is dedicated to showcasing outstanding theatrical performances. The initiative, utilizing the largest performance space, CUBE01, aims to foster the arts and support emerging talents in the theater scene. Recently, the selected groups for the fourth phase have been revealed, featuring two notable Osaka-based theater companies: Muimei Gekidan and iaku.

Muimei Gekidan


Founded in 2002, Muimei Gekidan has made significant strides in the Osaka theater landscape. After a brief hiatus, the group resumed its activities in 2015 under the leadership of Natsumi Shimabara. With a focus on community engagement, they not only produce plays but also conduct workshops in schools and support facilities. Their upcoming performances include a milestone 25th-anniversary showcase scheduled from June 21 to June 27, 2027. The company aims to create a vibrant artistic atmosphere that enhances community life.

iaku


Established in 2012 by playwright and director Takuya Yokoyama, iaku is recognized for its intricate dialogue and storytelling techniques. The group emphasizes the exploration of human emotions and societal issues through engaging theater. They will present their long-awaited new work from October 6 to 11, 2027, marking their return to the stage after a two-year absence. The aim is to create fundamentally entertaining yet thought-provoking experiences for the audience.

New Initiative: U-30 Support Project


In addition to the OMC Lineup, this year marks the launch of a new initiative aimed at cultivating young talent under the U-30 Support Project. Utilizing the CUBE02 venue, the program encourages rising artists in the Kansai region to step up and take on challenges, further contributing to the local theatrical landscape.
