Experience the Aesthetic World of Atsuhito Takagi's Calligraphy at Ginza Wako

Discover the Beauty of Calligraphy: "Moon Scenery" by Atsuhito Takagi

Ginza Wako, a renowned art venue, is set to feature a captivating calligraphy exhibition titled "Moon Scenery" by the distinguished calligrapher Atsuhito Takagi. This exhibition will run from March 5th to 15th, 2026, at the Seiko House Hall, located in the heart of Ginza.

Atsuhito Takagi, a special member of the Japan Exhibition (Nitten) and a master of Kana calligraphy, has poured his heart into this exhibition. His works are inspired by the profound emotional resonance of the moon portrayed in the poetry of Saigyō, an influential Japanese poet. Saigyō's timeless verses about the moon express feelings that transcend generations, drawing viewers into a serene world enriched by the subtle beauty of nature.

In Tsukino, Takagi captures the tranquil essence of moonlight reflecting his artistic vision through delicate lines and carefully considered negative space. He intends to evoke the same emotions that Saigyō expressed in his poems, bringing them into a contemporary context. Takagi reflects, "I aimed to write as my true self, confronting every piece of work with passion. Each artwork represents my desire to depict the scenery that moves my soul. Though I believe I am still progressing in my craft, I hope viewers can imagine the landscapes I envisioned while enjoying my works."

The exhibition will showcase a range of Takagi's calligraphic works, including pieces like "Moon" (135×65 cm) and smaller works such as "Spring Arrives" and "Somehow" (each 36×25 cm). Each piece invites the audience to experience the nuances of Takagi's artistic expression and find their interpretations within the flowing strokes.

Visitors to the exhibition can look forward to an immersive experience, enveloped in the ethereal glow of the moon, a theme that resonates deeply in Japanese culture. The serene ambiance of the Seiko House Hall will offer a space for contemplation and appreciation of this beautiful art form.
