Cetera Financial Group Expands with Acquisition of The SFI Group for Client Service Continuity
Cetera Financial Group's Strategic Acquisition
Cetera Financial Group, Inc., a prominent player in the financial advisory landscape, has recently made significant strides by acquiring the assets of The SFI Group, a Minneapolis-based wealth management practice. This strategic move is part of Cetera's succession planning, aimed at ensuring seamless service for clients as the financial advisory industry evolves.
The SFI Group, under the leadership of Terry Sonnenfeld, has established itself as a reputable wealth management entity managing approximately $200 million in assets under administration (AUA). With this acquisition, the entire team, including Sonnenfeld, his wife Tracy, and their support staff, will join Cetera Planning Partners, creating a robust national employee-advisor Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) platform.
Transitioning with Care
One of the primary motivations behind this acquisition is to maintain client relationships that have been nurtured over generations. Terry Sonnenfeld, who has accumulated extensive experience since starting his career in 1992, emphasized the importance of keeping clients aligned with Cetera rather than transferring them to an external firm.
