A Unique Crafting Workshop for Teens Hosted by Human Campus High School Featuring Handicraft Expert Eriko Teranishi

Experience the World of Handmade Crafting

On July 25, 2026, Human Campus High School in Akihabara will host an engaging workshop for middle and high school students. Led by renowned handicraft author Eriko Teranishi, who has published over 750 titles, participants will dive into the fascinating realms of both sewing and knitting.

The Workshop Details

This special event features two main activities: the Mold Doll Creation and Finger Knitting Chouchou Making. Best of all, no needles or threads are required, making it accessible even for absolute beginners looking to explore their creative potential!

Mold Doll Creation (Sewing Major Experience)

In this session, participants will twist a soft, unique type of mohair to create a one-of-a-kind Mold Doll. They will have the freedom to dress their creations and add personal accessories, which enables a delightful and fully customizable crafting experience.

Finger Knitting Chouchou Making (Knitting Major Experience)

Here, students will learn how to craft colorful and practical scrunchies using only their fingers with vibrant yarns. This hands-on activity taps into the joy of selecting colors and textures, offering a truly interactive experience.

A Growing Trend in Handmade Crafts

The phenomenon of “Nui Katsu” – creating plush dolls of beloved characters – has rapidly gained traction among today's youth, especially on social media platforms. Data from a recent survey reveals that more than 80% of Generation Z has engaged in this creative pursuit, whether by adding plush toys to their bags or bringing them along on outings.

Furthermore, with the digital age's rise, there is a renewed appreciation for crafting as a therapeutic and self-expressive outlet. This workshop not only showcases the unique educational disciplines of Sewing and Knitting within the school but also represents an invaluable opportunity for students to experience the joy of creating something with their own hands.
