2025 Wellness Trends: Sauna Usage Surges as Top Recovery Strategy Among Fitness Enthusiasts

2025 Wellness Trends: A Comprehensive Look

As we edge closer to 2025, the importance of health and wellness continues to gain traction, with individuals increasingly looking to prioritize their physical and mental well-being. Recent findings from a survey conducted by Life Time (NYSE: LTH) reveal intriguing insights about the trends shaping wellness goals for the upcoming year. This annual poll, engaging over 1,350 participants, highlights pivotal recovery practices and fitness aspirations that will dominate the New Year.

Key Findings from the Survey

One striking revelation is the overwhelming interest in sauna sessions as a recovery method. Approximately 69.1% of respondents expressed their desire to incorporate or enhance their sauna usage in 2025. This preference signals a broader recognition of the sauna's benefits, including relaxation, recovery, and stress relief. Moreover, the survey found that 50% of participants are keen on exploring assisted stretching, while 42.4% are considering ice baths or cryotherapy.

The survey also touched on attitudes towards GLP-1 medications, with 60.8% of respondents believing these treatments could significantly enhance overall health. This statistic demonstrates an increasing openness to innovative health solutions.

As we review health priorities for 2025, an impressive 74.7% of individuals plan to make health a key focus, up from 62.4% in the previous year. This almost 20% surge underscores a shift in mindset towards a more health-conscious lifestyle. Moreover, a remarkable 99.3% reported feeling happier after engaging in workouts, reinforcing the mental health benefits of physical activity.

For the third consecutive year, building muscle tops the list of New Year's fitness goals, followed closely by aspirations to improve diet, increase overall movement, and achieve weight loss. Strength training has emerged as the preferred workout routine, ahead of cardio-focused exercises, indicating a growing awareness of the essential role strength plays in overall health.

Insights from Life Time's Director

Danny King, the Director of Recovery and Performance at Life Time, highlighted this trend by stating, "People of all ages are realizing the benefits of strength training and recovery by making it a priority in their routine." In response to this growing interest, Life Time is committed to enhancing its strength training spaces and recovery zones within its facilities, ensuring access to a diverse range of equipment suitable for all body types. The company is also amplifying its digital content, notably through the free Life Time Digital app, which offers easy access to strength training classes and coaching.

Nutrition and Wellness Insights

Examining nutrition habits, the survey revealed that over 65% of participants either do not adhere to a specific nutrition philosophy or are following intuitive eating principles. Furthermore, about 59.5% of respondents consume daily supplements, with protein powders, multivitamins, and vitamin D emerging as popular choices. Among those who take supplements, more than 60% reported using at least two to four per day.

In seeking guidance on new nutritional and wellness trends, nearly half of the participants (48.6%) prefer advice from certified professionals, contrasting with the 13% who rely solely on social media. This inclination indicates a collective desire for credible guidance in navigating health information.

When it comes to fitness apps, most respondents utilize them primarily for workout routines, followed by data tracking, nutrition guidance, and meditation purposes. More than 80% of individuals also allocate time each week for self-care and activities that boost their happiness.
