Pickleball Hall of Fame 2025 Inductees Announced
The excitement surrounding pickleball continues to brew, especially with the announcement from the Pickleball Hall of Fame regarding its 2025 class of inductees. Every year, this prestigious organization acknowledges the monumental contributions of athletes and individuals who have profoundly impacted the sport, and this year's selections are no exception.
On November 5th and 6th, an awards banquet will be held in Surprise, Arizona, where two elite competitors, Cammy MacGregor and Chris "Mills" Miller, alongside notable contributor Melissa McCurley, will be officially honored. This event is particularly special as it celebrates not just their achievements but also their unwavering passion for promoting pickleball on various fronts.
Recognizing Phenomenal Achievements
Cammy MacGregor
As a former professional tennis player who spent a decade on the WTA tour, Cammy MacGregor made a significant switch to pickleball in 2015. Her adaptation to the sport has been marked by monumental success, flaunting an impressive record of 22 major pickleball championships. Notable titles in her collection include the 2018 US Open Senior Pro Singles and the USA Pickleball National Champions Senior Pro Doubles. Beyond her accolades, Cammy has demonstrated her commitment to the sport by introducing pickleball to new audiences at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California.
Chris "Mills" Miller
Another standout inductee is Chris Miller, recognized for his exceptional career with over 100 career gold medals and 10-time National Champion. His history in sports didn’t just end with his remarkable performances on the court; as a high school PE teacher, he passionately introduced countless students to pickleball. His tenure at Bobby Riggs Racquet & Paddle further emphasized his commitment to mentoring the next generation of players. Last year, he earned the title of 2023 NPL World Champion, solidifying his standing in the pickleball community.
Melissa McCurley
Equally impressive is Melissa McCurley, renowned for her contributions beyond just playing. With a background serving in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, she transitioned into the world of pickleball by taking the reins of PickleballTournaments.com in 2014. Under her leadership, the platform has evolved into a critical resource for players globally, providing essential technology and operational support. Her contributions also include being the first female commentator for pickleball on CBS Sports and earning accolades such as the Most Influential Person in Pickleball designation and the 2022 US Open Impact Award.
Commemorating Growth and Community
The selection committee, led by Fran Myer, an inductee from 2018, takes great care in evaluating each nomination. The rigorous selection process aims to ensure that honorees exemplify extraordinary talent and impact within the sport. Myer expressed her pride in this year's inductees, emphasizing the unique blend of pioneering spirits and competitive excellence.
As John Gullo, a 2024 inductee and president of the Hall of Fame board, articulated succinctly, the deserving inductees' hard work underpins the sport's ascension as a premier global activity. Their commitment to advancing pickleball resonates as a hallmark of dedication and leadership, which successive generations will continue to thrive and build upon.
Only 33 individuals currently exist within the Pickleball Hall of Fame, reflecting a select group of those who have both played at the top levels and significantly contributed to the sport's growth. Today, pickleball is celebrated as one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide, drawing interest and admiration across communities.
Join us in celebrating this year's inductees and the profound legacy of pickleball as we look forward to the awards banquet in Arizona, where their achievements will undoubtedly inspire many more future athletes and enthusiasts alike.
