The Uncalled Capital: A Rising Force in Jazz
In a remarkable achievement in the world of jazz, The Uncalled Capital, a promising ensemble from Japan, made history at the 19th Bucharest International Jazz Competition in July 2025. Competing against artists from over 30 countries, they became the first Japanese group ever to win the Grand Prix. Their unique blend of intricate ensemble work featuring three wind instruments, coupled with a modern exploration of jazz traditions, earned them high praise as a fusion of intellect and passion.
Fast forward to April 15, 2026, their debut album titled
STRADA EPISCOPIEI will be released by Blue Chip Studio. This masterpiece stands as a symbol of their evolution and hard work, encapsulating the essence of their experiences and journey as musicians. The album cover is inspired by actual photos taken in Romania during the international competition, linking the memories of their travels with the music they have created.
Capturing the Essence of Place and Sound
The title of the album,
STRADA EPISCOPIEI, refers to the very street in Bucharest where they earned their prestigious title. The album features ten tracks, showcasing original compositions by the band members as well as a fresh arrangement of the jazz standard
But Not For Me, arranged by Jun Umegaki. The recording took place at the renowned Victor Studio, known for producing numerous acclaimed albums, where each note captures the studio's unique atmosphere.
The album caters not just to the digital audience through streaming platforms but also to vinyl enthusiasts, as physical CDs will be available for purchase. The recording process was marked by an intense creativity and focus, with the members striving for a world-class ensemble sound, ensuring that every detail was finely tuned.
Additional Concert Announced due to Overwhelming Demand

In response to the overwhelming demand, an additional performance has been scheduled for May 1, 2026, at the same venue.
