Celebrating 20 Years of Friendship Between Itabashi and Bologna: Special Event Unites Through Picture Books

Celebrating Two Decades of Friendship

In the world of international relations and cultural exchange, few initiatives are as enduring as the friendship city agreements that bridges gaps and fosters understanding. A shining example of such a relationship is the ongoing collaboration between Itabashi City in Japan and Bologna City in Italy.

This year marks a significant milestone— the 20th anniversary of the Itabashi-Bologna friendship city agreement. To commemorate this special occasion, a series of exhibitions and events are organized, showcasing the deep-rooted cultural ties and the progress made over the years.

Highlights of the Event

The festivities take place at two key venues: the Itabashi Central Library and the Itabashi City Hall. At the library, visitors can enjoy a special panel exhibition that presents a timeline of interactions between Itabashi and Bologna. Highlights include messages from Matteo Lepore, the Mayor of Bologna, emphasizing the importance of international friendships.

Alongside the exhibition, a fun stamp rally encourages visitors to engage interactively. By collecting stamps from both exhibition venues, participants can complete a specially designed logo that symbolizes the anniversary of the friendship agreement.

In addition to the cultural showcasing, food lovers will not want to miss the limited-edition culinary offerings inspired by Bologna’s rich gastronomy. The restaurant within the Itabashi City Hall is serving up a delectable menu, including Italian classics such as Bologna-style pork cutlets, chicken cacciatora, Bolognese pasta, and Bolognese-style lasagna. This gastronomic experience is available from September 16 to 26, with dishes prepared in limited quantities to capture the essence of Bologna right in Itabashi.
