Mizuno Sports Foundation Supports eSports Development in Japan for 2026

The Japan eSports Union (JESU), led by President Hideki Hayakawa, is excited to announce that it has been granted funding for the 2026 activities by the Mizuno Sports Foundation. This support marks the fourth consecutive year of assistance from the Foundation, which has been promoting various sports organizations since its establishment in 1970.

Last year's aid enabled the successful execution of significant events such as the “2025 National Prefectural eSports Championship in Shiga,” where Chiba Prefecture claimed its first victory. Additionally, the funding facilitated crucial workshops focusing on integrity and anti-doping specifically designed for eSports professionals.

On July 17, a funding presentation ceremony took place, where Vice-President Nanjo of the Mizuno Sports Foundation handed over the grants to Vice-President Ochi of JESU. During the ceremony, Vice-President Ochi presented a report summarizing last year's tournaments and workshops funded by the grants. He also discussed the planned activities for this year, including ongoing developments in international eSports and unique characteristics of eSports as a lifelong sport.

JESU serves as the central governing body for eSports in Japan. Through the support of various sponsors, it is committed to improving the status and environment for eSports players. The organization aims to uplift Japan's competitive abilities through the promotion of eSports, while contributing to public health and the overall development of society and the economy.
