Exciting Hands-On Workshops for Aspiring Young Engineers
Tokyo Denki University (TDU), under the leadership of President Tadahiko Ibanamoto, has announced its upcoming D-SciTech Program workshops aimed at elementary school students. Set to occur from October 2025 to March 2026, this initiative is designed to foster interest in science and engineering among young learners. Supported by local governments including Adachi, Soka, and Matsudo, as well as Adachi Seiwa Credit Union, these engaging workshops will feature eight sessions focused on essential themes in energy and combustion.
Program Highlights
This year's curriculum emphasizes the concept of energy, with specific modules covering hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and optical forces. A major feature of the workshops will be an engaging collaboration with IHI Corporation that focuses on the workings of internal combustion engines, helping students understand how fuel energy drives these machines through model-making activities.
Additionally, participants will engage in meaningful communication by expressing their thoughts and ideas through language. Renowned Rakugo performer Nanako Hayashiya will help students appreciate the significance of verbal expression in their workshops.
Beyond these core activities, children will have opportunities to learn from expert engineers and creators through collaborative courses, such as assembling their own PCs in partnership with ASUS Japan, and creating handmade picture books with generative AI technology, in collaboration with IX-Party. The program also includes a variety of workshops such as the
