Experience the marvels of the night sky at MIYAKO GALAXY-DOME, the first facility in Japan that combines an observatory with a high-definition LED planetarium. Scheduled to grandly open on June 1, 2026, the booking site for this exciting new venue will also go live on April 7, 2026, allowing visitors to reserve spots from that date.

Located on Kaimajima, a beautiful island in Miyako Island, Okinawa, MIYAKO GALAXY-DOME aims to showcase the stunning celestial views unique to its geographic location at 24 degrees North latitude. This site has been recognized by the Ministry of the Environment for its minimal light pollution, promising visitors an unparalleled stargazing experience.

Features of MIYAKO GALAXY-DOME



- Observatory Dome: The observatory features large telescopes for observing various celestial bodies visible from Kaimajima. The wonders captured through the telescopes will be projected inside the 7.5-meter-diameter LED dome, offering an immersive experience as if you’ve stepped into outer space.

- Planetarium Dome: As a part of the immersive experience, guests can revel in vivid LED projections that depict the beauty of the cosmos. Visitors can escape the mundane and dive into a fantastic world where they can explore the mysteries and wonders of astronomy.

MIYAKO GALAXY-DOME offers several guided tours to enhance your celestial exploration:

1. Planetarium Tour: During the bright afternoon hours, guests can enjoy a live demonstration of the night sky observable from Miyako Island, guided by a knowledgeable speaker who brings to life constellations and planets. Visitors are encouraged to memorize the star positions and test their skills in identifying them at night.

2. Stargazing Tour: As night falls, the observatory dome opens to allow guests to observe real celestial bodies through the telescopes. This tour includes a comprehensive explanation of the visible stars and constellations, followed by an opportunity to connect the dots in the actual night sky outside.

3. Dome Tour: Explore the dome at your leisure and enjoy stunning visuals of Miyako Island’s breathtaking landscapes showcased in the LED planetarium.
