Sport Clips Celebrates Veterans with Dream Flights at Kansas Speedway NASCAR Cup Series

Dream Flights at Kansas Speedway

In a heartwarming tribute to veterans, Sport Clips Haircuts is taking its support for the nonprofit organization Dream Flights to the NASCAR Cup Series at Kansas Speedway. This incredible partnership not only highlights the bravery and contributions of those who have served but also offers an exhilarating experience to veterans, fulfilling dreams of flight in restored WWII-era biplanes.

Bringing Dreams to Life

On September 28, during one of NASCAR's premier events, Dream Flights will feature prominently on Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE, thanks to the generous support from Sport Clips. The car will proudly display the Dream Flights logo along with a vibrant image of a yellow Stearman biplane, symbolizing the adventures that await senior veterans. This collaboration has the dual purpose of providing visibility to the organization’s mission while celebrating those who have served in the military.

Darryl Fisher, the founder of Dream Flights, expressed gratitude, stating, "Dream Flights is honored to ride with Denny Hamlin this weekend. Thanks to Sport Clips' generosity, millions of NASCAR fans will learn about our mission to honor America's heroes with the life-changing experience of a Dream Flight." Dream Flights has provided this extraordinary opportunity to nearly 8,000 veterans since its inception in 2011, offering them a chance to take to the skies once more and experience the joy of flight.

A Decade of Commitment

Sport Clips has been a primary supporter of Dream Flights for over a decade, backing the mission not only through financial contributions but also by engaging its franchisees and team members in volunteer experiences at various events across the country. This involvement ensures that each flight is not only memorable for the veterans but also meaningful for those who participate in the event preparations. Gordon Logan, founder and chairman of Sport Clips and an Air Force veteran himself, noted, "Seeing that bright yellow Stearman biplane on the car is a powerful reminder that racing can do more than entertain—it can inspire and help recognize those who served."

The actual Dream Flights offer veterans a chance to soar 1,000 feet high in an open-cockpit plane, reliving moments from their past with the guidance of skilled pilots, many of whom are retired military aviators and commercial airline captains. Each flight is a personal journey, tailored to evoke memories and emotions tied to their service.

Honoring Local Heroes

In the days leading leading up to the NASCAR event, Dream Flights will be making appearances at airports in Kansas City and Olathe, Kansas, giving select senior veterans from local VFW posts an opportunity to partake in these dream flights. This initiative serves to honor their service and sacrifice on a more community-focused level, demonstrating that gratitude knows no bounds.

A Legacy of Support

Sport Clips operates more than 1,800 locations across all 50 states and Canada, championing various programs that give back to military personnel, including the “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” initiative that has awarded over $15.3 million in scholarships since 2013. These consistent efforts underline the company’s commitment to supporting veterans while promoting awareness about their needs and contributions to society.

As the NASCAR Cup Series approaches, the collaboration between Sport Clips and Dream Flights not only elevates the profile of both organizations but also fosters a deeper connection within the community to honor those who have served. The upcoming race at Kansas Speedway isn't just a sports event—it’s a celebration of courage, a commitment to giving back, and a reminder of the lasting impact veterans have on the fabric of our nation.
