Full House and High Spirits: The Debut of BuzzyFes 2025 on Disaster Prevention Day

On September 1, 2025, Yappe Inc., headquartered in Koriyama, Fukushima, successfully held the first-ever BuzzyFes 2025 at Spotify O-Crest in Tokyo. Tickets sold out three weeks prior, demonstrating significant enthusiasm, and additional tickets were even available on the day of the event.

What is BuzzyFes?

BuzzyFes was conceived as a new style music event aimed at raising awareness about disaster preparedness through the medium of music. This fresh initiative marks Yappe Inc.’s first foray into organizing such events. Coinciding with Disaster Prevention Day, this festival emerged from the vision of Yappe’s representative, Hiroki Sugiyama, who experienced the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake in Fukushima. He expressed a desire to connect his love for music with disaster preparedness, a sentiment that resonated strongly with many attendees.

Featured Artists

This year’s event showcased two rising acts that have been capturing attention, both of which performed in a highly publicized double act in Tokyo.

Persicalia

Initially formed as a solo project by vocalist Yuki Yaguchi in Saitama in March 2020, this guitar rock band consists of members with an average age of 22. After undergoing lineup changes, they’ve solidified into their current form. Yaguchi’s songs combine upbeat pop with an underlying sense of melancholy, striking a chord with listeners through relatable lyrics and an explosive live performance style. Their ability to create a profound connection with the audience during their shows has established them as a band that truly shines in live settings.

Rousantiman

Founded in June 2018 in Tokyo, this alternative rock band features members Kita (vocals, guitar), Cooler NAKANO (guitar), Shimizu (bass), and Mogi (drums). Their heavy sound paired with sharp, direct lyrics leaves a lasting impact on listeners. After performing at the ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2019 and continually evolving through their music and live shows, they have carved out a unique presence within the live music scene.

Atmosphere on the Day of the Event

Right from the opening, the venue was bustling with eager attendees, quickly reaching full capacity. Long lines formed outside for same-day tickets, illustrating the event's popularity. On stage, captivating performances unfolded, with MCs touching upon the event’s Disaster Prevention Day theme.

The excitement was palpable as the crowd filled the space shortly after opening, leading to a vibrant atmosphere even before the performance began. Afterward, event organizers and artists gathered for a commemorative photo.

Strong Reactions on Social Media

Audience members took to social media in droves, sharing their experiences and praising the initiative. A significant number of posts emphasized the theme of Disaster Prevention Day, underscoring the event’s goal of making disaster preparedness feel more accessible and relatable to the audience.

Comments from the BuzzyFes Representative

Hiroki Sugiyama, who also leads the student group “Bousai me,” and is certified as a disaster prevention specialist, shared his motivation behind the festival.
“I have personally witnessed the impacts of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Through this event, I want to communicate the significance of disaster readiness via music. Because I’ve been rescued by live music, blending it with disaster preparedness holds meaningful value for me.” He faced initial concerns regarding the serious image associated with disaster preparedness, but artists encouraged him to embrace the subject confidently. This support fueled his determination to convey his thoughts sincerely.

Future Developments

Having successfully launched its inaugural event, BuzzyFes aims to continue and expand its role in promoting disaster awareness through music. The plan is to refine this innovative blend of music and social issues while fostering an environment where youth can actively engage.
