Episcopal Relief & Development's 2026 Lenten Meditations
Starting on Ash Wednesday and continuing throughout the 2026 season, Episcopal Relief & Development is offering daily Lenten Meditations that invite individuals to reflect and enhance their spiritual lives. This year, the organization has collaborated with Sister Monica Clare, an Episcopal nun and unexpected TikTok sensation, to craft meditations centered on the theme of "Holy Habits."
Sister Monica Clare's meditations aim to explore Scripture readings for Vespers, or Evening Prayer, encouraging habits that not only support a life of faith but also invite participants into a deeper relationship with their spirituality. Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe, the presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church, emphasizes the importance of daily spiritual practice amidst a constantly changing world. He shares, "Most often, spiritual growth happens not in grand moments, but through modest and consistent practices of faith."
This initiative underlines the role of consistent spiritual engagement as a means to cultivate clarity and connection in our daily lives. The meditations provided by Episcopal Relief & Development are designed to aid participants in developing 'holy habits' that facilitate a stronger bond with the Risen Christ while shedding practices that no longer serve their spiritual journeys.
Episcopal Relief & Development warmly welcomes everyone, not limited to the Episcopal community, to partake in the journey of building these 'Holy Habits.' Participants can subscribe to receive daily emails, download supplementary resources for further exploration, and incorporate these meditations into community prayer and worship sessions.
Sean McConnell, Senior Director of Faith and Community Engagement at Episcopal Relief & Development, remarked, "These meditations serve as an invitation to join a movement of prayer and reflection. People become part of this global community of spiritual pilgrims, and many share these meditations with friends and family, further extending the reach of this initiative."
The Lenten Meditations are intended not only as offerings to nurture individual spiritual journeys but also as gifts to the wider community of supporters who provide ongoing prayer and encouragement to the organization.
For over 80 years, Episcopal Relief & Development has partnered with an extensive network of faith and community entities working to foster sustainable change in communities affected by poverty, disasters, and climate change. Each year, they positively impact over three million lives, focusing on key priorities that include nurturing the potential of caregivers and young children, addressing violence against women and girls, enhancing community resilience to climate change, and facilitating humanitarian responses to crises.
Join Episcopal Relief & Development this Lent with their meditations available in both English and Spanish, and become part of a larger movement aimed at meaningful spiritual growth and community support.
