Midea’s Revolutionary Overseas Expansion Strategy
On June 9, 2026, Midea Group officially launched its much-anticipated
Agentic Factory Overseas Expansion Solution. This launch marks a significant milestone for Chinese enterprises aspiring to penetrate international markets. Built upon the successful transformation of Midea's Jingzhou washing machine factory— which earned the world’s first WRCA Agentic Factory certification in August 2025— this innovative solution encompasses a structured, rapid approach to establishing factories abroad.
Midea's approach consists of twelve modular components that are both standardized and field-validated. This modular framework is designed to facilitate seamless global deployment for operations looking to expand overseas. Within this strategy, Midea addresses three critical challenges that many enterprises face when venturing into international markets: managing lengthy cross-border supply chains, dealing with inconsistent quality standards across various export destinations, and tackling workforce management issues that arise from cultural and regulatory differences.
A report by Deloitte reveals that
55% of Chinese businesses are eager to pursue growth through overseas ventures. Recognizing this trend, Midea aimed to create a solution that empowers companies to overcome persistent hurdles with modern manufacturing techniques and strategic resource management.
The effectiveness of the Agentic Factory Solution has been tested and proven at Midea’s Thailand Refrigeration Plant, where a range of
72 AI applications and
13 key operational agents have been deployed across
25 scenarios. As a result, the factory has successfully reduced its end-to-end order lead time by
43%, decreased customer complaints by
32%, and shortened the employee training process by a significant
62%. These improvements highlight the replicable nature of China's intelligent manufacturing capabilities on a global scale.
For instance, Midea has integrated a state-of-the-art
AIGC + VR multilingual training system which trims down new employee training duration from
eight days to just three. The company established a comprehensive
VOC-to-VOP seven-step quality control mechanism that utilizes a database containing over
12 million quality cases, allowing for rapid tracing of customer complaints back to their production sources. This not only enhances accountability but also streamlines the identification of root causes within seconds.
In terms of supply chain efficiency, Midea has developed an AI-driven cross-border supply chain monitoring system capable of overseeing
35 critical nodes in real-time. This advanced system dramatically reduces exception handling response times from
48 hours to less than 12 hours, ensuring that raw material delivery rates exceed
96%. Furthermore, with the collaboration of Annto’s integrated KD logistics solution, the material kitting rate has successfully surpassed
99%. Consequently, the defect rate of finished products in the Thailand factory has been cut down by an impressive
50%.
Supporting these advancements in production is Midea Cloud, in partnership with companies like KUKA, Annto, Hiconics, CLOU Electronics, and Midea Building Technologies. Together, they enhance cost reduction and boost efficiency through automated production lines, reusable packaging solutions, and energy-efficient technologies.
Additionally, Midea has introduced the
Midea Go-Global Partner Program, which aims not only to standardize equipment but also to transform Midea’s extensive expertise into actionable guidance and support for global partners. As indicated by Simon Zhang, Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of Midea Group, this co-building model has demonstrated tangible results. For example,
Wuhan Honghai Technology successfully completed its Thailand capacity expansion within just five months, witnessing a
1.6 times increase in business volume in 2025. Notably,
Xiamen Hexing Packaging, a longstanding Midea partner, has progressed from being a domestic supplier to a recognized global player, establishing production facilities in Southeast Asia and North America while joining Midea’s strategic partner whitelist in 2025.
Midea’s strategic initiatives signal a new direction for Chinese enterprises as they seek to enhance their global footprint and operational efficacy through smart and innovative solutions.
