Samsung Unveils One UI 9 for Galaxy Devices

Samsung Electronics Japan has announced the rollout of its newest user interface, One UI 9, for current Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Initially, One UI 9 supported only the latest foldable smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8, which were launched in August 2026, as well as the Galaxy Tab S12 series released in October 2026. However, the new update will now be available for models from the Galaxy S23 series and later, released in 2023.

Enhanced AI Capabilities

One UI 9 introduces advanced AI functionalities designed to simplify mobile operations and enhance creativity. With expanded creative tools and customization options, users can manage their devices more conveniently. This interface also offers stronger protection against potential security risks, ensuring a safer experience for all users.

The updated version of One UI 9 enhances daily activities with Galaxy AI’s versatile support across various form factors, streamlining tasks in everyday life.

Automation in Japanese

Additionally, the latest models, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, Flip8, Galaxy S26 series, and Galaxy Tab S12 series, will sequentially support Japanese for task automation through Gemini Intelligence. With this feature, users can instruct the AI with commands like "Book a taxi using the XX app" or "Order a hamburger via the YY app." This results-driven functionality simplifies the often tedious processes of searching, ordering, and booking.

Key Features of One UI 9

One UI 9 is designed to support a user-friendly interface for Samsung Galaxy devices, enhancing the core user experience. It allows users to customize essential information and manage their devices more efficiently.

My Fan Cam

One of the standout features is "My Fan Cam," which automatically tracks specific persons in favorite videos and centers them on the screen as they move. This reduces the hassle of manual editing, making it easier for users to create shareable content on social media during events like children’s activities or sports events.

Now Nudge

The "Now Nudge" feature leverages Galaxy AI to comprehend screen content and make timely helpful suggestions. Users can instantly call up reservation details while discussing plans via messages, effortlessly continuing their workflow without interruptions. This feature is also accessible through pop-ups and notifications, enhancing user convenience.

Multi AI Agent (Gemini Intelligence)

A notable advancement in One UI 9 is the Multi AI Agent functionality, where users can simply press the side button and request the AI agent to handle tasks within applications. For example, when booking a taxi, users can say, "Book a taxi from here to my office using the XX app," allowing for smoother interactions without needing to input destination details within the app manually. Other supported functionalities include ordering food delivery, booking airline tickets, and hotel reservations within compatible apps.

Creative Studio

With the Creative Studio feature, users receive suggestions for content creation based on upcoming special occasions, like proposing to create a birthday card as a friend’s birthday approaches. This feature facilitates easy content creation for special events.

Document Scanning and More

One UI 9 also introduces new efficiencies in scanning documents, allowing users to easily capture pages from books without difficulty. Improved functionality in the document scanning feature includes deleting fingers from scanned images, providing clearer digital documents. Similarly, Samsung Notes now supports a variety of creative functions, including decorative tape and diverse pen styles.

Enhanced Security Features

Security is a top priority with One UI 9. New security features include Security Brief for updates on malware, Privacy Protection Alerts that leverage on-device AI to monitor access attempts, and Fraud Detection capabilities that expand the range of protected users across countries like Japan, Canada, and India. Additionally, users can receive real-time warnings when suspicious calls are detected, allowing for proactive measures against fraud.

One UI 9 by Samsung promises to elevate the user experience through its advanced capabilities and robust security measures. This upgrade not only enhances mobile usability but prioritizes user safety in an increasingly interconnected digital landscape.
