Börje Ekholm Nominated as New Chair of Sobi's Board of Directors

In a recent announcement, the Nomination Committee of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (Sobi) has put forward Börje Ekholm as the candidate for the position of Chair of the Board at the upcoming 2027 Annual General Meeting (AGM). This decision comes in the wake of David Meek, the current Chair, opting not to seek re-election.

David Meek has held the position since December 2024 and will continue to serve until the conclusion of his term in May 2027. Under his leadership, Sobi has seen impressive growth as well as an increase in shareholder value, while also expanding access to vital medications through new product launches and increased indications. His focus on strengthening the clinical development pipeline has set up the company for long-term success.

Börje Ekholm is known for his extensive background that spans more than three decades, particularly in technology, investment management, and global business leadership. Recently, he concluded his role as the CEO of Ericsson, but his experience is even broader, having previously held leadership positions at Patricia Industries and Investor AB. Additionally, he is the current Chair of the Board at Trimble Inc. and has a forthcoming position on the Board of Nasdaq Inc., effective November 1, 2026.

Throughout his career, Ekholm has also served on boards for various notable companies including Alibaba, Husqvarna, Scania, and more, showcasing his diversified leadership capabilities. He’s actively involved in advisory roles as well, being a board advisor for Mars Inc., and providing guidance to the CEO of Ericsson. Notably, during his time at Investor AB, Ekholm was instrumental in the establishment of Sobi as a result of the merger between Biovitrum and Swedish Orphan International.

In reflecting upon Ekholm’s nomination, Daniel Nodhäll, Chair of the Nomination Committee, stated, "We are pleased to propose Börje Ekholm as the new Chair of the Sobi Board. He carries enormous global leadership and board experience and possesses a deep familiarity with our company. We also would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to David for his leadership that contributed to the strong performance and development of Sobi."

As the nomination process continues, the Nomination Committee will release more detailed proposals leading up to the 2027 AGM.
