BTL Industries Expands EXOMIND® Platform with FDA Approvals for New Treatments

BTL Industries Expands EXOMIND® Platform with New FDA Clearances

BTL Industries, recognized internationally for its advancements in medical and wellness technologies, has recently announced significant updates to its EXOMIND® platform. The company has received further approvals from the FDA for this noninvasive brain stimulation device, originally introduced into the U.S. market in 2025 to target Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults.

The latest FDA clearances allow for the treatment of various additional brain conditions. Notably, these include Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), MDD accompanied by anxiety, and now extend treatment opportunities to adolescent patients aged between 15 and 21. This broadening of indications marks a significant stride in addressing the diverse mental health needs of different patient demographics.

The EXOMIND® platform has also adopted an innovative intermittent theta burst protocol, enabling treatment sessions to be reduced to a mere three minutes. This efficiency opens up new dimensions for healthcare providers, allowing them to tailor treatments around the busy lives of their patients. The newly introduced EXOMIND® Dual Applicator goes further by enhancing treatment options, thereby offering healthcare professionals greater flexibility in customizing care plans for their patients.

Dr. Dennis Weimer, a triple board-certified psychiatrist, highlights the burden of OCD, one of the most prevalent mental health disorders globally, characterizing it as a condition that can profoundly affect daily functioning. By incorporating the EXOMIND® platform into his practice, he has found it to be a comfortable and effective treatment method for patients navigating the struggles of both depression and OCD. He comments, 'EXOMIND® presents another option for adults with OCD, and the theta burst session’s brevity means treatment can seamlessly fit into patients’ lives.'

Dr. Michelle Dees, another board-certified psychiatrist, emphasizes the importance of these new treatment options for adolescents dealing with depression. She explains, 'Adolescence marked by depression can deeply impact all areas of a young person's life, from academic performance to interpersonal relationships.' Many adolescents either do not have a sufficient response to traditional antidepressants or experience side effects that increase their distress. The new clearance affirms that clinicians now have alternative strategies to support adolescents alongside existing treatments, instilling hope among affected families.

Rohit Mishra, VP of Product Strategy and Business Development at BTL, elaborates on the company’s commitment to expanding EXOMIND®'s capabilities. He states, 'Our focus remains on broadening access to care that meets a wider array of needs, from mood disorders to anxiety-related symptoms, ultimately improving everyday behaviors that can impact quality of life.' The EXOMIND® platform stands central to BTL’s strategic vision, with ongoing investment in its development and future.

To share these advancements and their implications for the community, BTL is organizing the North American EXOMIND® Days, set to take place from October 13 to 15, 2026. Across these three days, practices and communities will engage in sharing personal experiences, unveiling new possibilities, and fostering environments that encourage individuals to take the steps toward regaining control over their mental well-being.
