EXA Introduces Cross-Border Training Program for Students Using AI Technology

In a significant advancement for employee development, Exa Corporation has launched a unique cross-border training program called 'Dual Business Study.' This program allows employees to work at startup companies for one day a week over a period of three months. The primary aim is to enrich traditional in-house training by incorporating real-world learning experiences. One notable project within this program involved participants collaborating with Agrimind Corporation, a company focused on smart agriculture, to leverage AI in transforming managerial tacit knowledge into shared organizational assets. This initiative led to generating a 'virtual representative' which embodies the insights of Agrimind's CEO, Koji Fujimaki.

The Motivation Behind 'Dual Business Study'

Exa is committed to not just teaching skills but fostering an environment where employees can express their passions and autonomously create value. By deepening their understanding of clients' needs and experiences, Exa seeks to strengthen its role as a co-creation partner. The introduction of 'Dual Business Study' serves as a framework to transform individual expertise and enthusiasm into collective organizational power, promoting cross-border activities.

Implementation Details

From January 2026, Exa’s participating students engaged in projects at Agrimind, focusing on AI application initiatives. Weekly training sessions on AI skills began with sharing examples from agriculture and back-office operations to inspire each participant. They then transitioned into personalized consultations, addressing individual business challenges with AI applications. This collaborative approach fostered an environment where employees could explore how to implement AI effectively, culminating in the development of the 'digital representative,' known as 'DigiMaki.'

Innovative Developments

DigiMaki, which leverages Fujimaki's business philosophies and decision-making processes, provides responses to on-site queries with the intelligence of the CEO’s way of thinking, enabling employees to engage more proactively in their tasks without awaiting decisions.

Comments from the Companies Involved

Ayumi Koiwa from Exa: Through this project, we ensured that the knowledge and wisdom at the ground level could be harnessed efficiently. The focus wasn’t just on technology but on creating a meaningful user experience that can seamlessly integrate within daily operations. Participating in this program allowed me to experience the depth of management philosophy behind the scenes.

Koji Fujimaki, CEO of Agrimind: AI is not a substitute for me; it serves as a partner that enhances my decision-making process by preventing omissions in my thinking. The objective of implementing DigiMaki was to eliminate the individual dependency in decision-making, advancing towards a system where the same outcome can be achieved regardless of who executes the task.

Tomoko Fujio from Enfactory: We are delighted to see the exceptional autonomy and results achieved through our Dual Business Study program. Our focus remains firmly on fostering independent and sustainable growth among employees, preparing them to meet evolving market demands effectively.
