The Enchanting HANA Akari Event at HANA-BIYORI

HANA-BIYORI, a unique flower park managed by Yomiuri Land, is gearing up to elevate the beauty of its ongoing exhibition, "HANA Akari - HANA-BIYORI x Bamboo Lights," starting from October 23. This event sets the stage for visitors to experience a blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and innovative illumination art. The highlight of this year's event will be the magical light displays created with bamboo objects combined with beautifully illuminated trees, flowers, and cultural artifacts, creating a serene environment bathed in soft light.

This year, new features such as the "Tokka Tairin" (Large Flower Light) and the "Waakari no Yagura" (Japanese Lantern Tower) will be unveiled, providing visitors with remarkable new experiences. The event is curated by the bamboo light production group CHIKAKEN, which is dedicated to promoting the coalescence of nature and culture through light installations.

2. Waakari no Yagura: Located at the entrance of the "Hanakei no Yu" hot spring within HANA-BIYORI, this Yagura (tower) structure will feature a prominent hanging lantern adorned with the event's logo. Meet CHIKAKEN

The bamboo light production unit CHIKAKEN was formed in April 2007 by Yoshio Ikeda and Kenji Sanjo at Sojo University in Kumamoto, after their encounter under the mentorship of Keiichi Uchimaru. They are committed to expanding bamboo lighting as a new cultural experience in Japan, emphasizing the connection between people, their communities, and nature. CHIKAKEN aims to preserve bamboo lighting as a cultural heritage rather than a transient spectacle. Their works have showcased bamboo light installations at prestigious events, including the G7 Ise-Shima Summit and the G7 Hiroshima Summit, contributing significantly to the cultural landscape.
