Robocalls Surge in November 2025, Marking a Disturbing Trend for U.S. Consumers

Surge in Robocalls: A Closer Look at November 2025

In a striking turn of events, November 2025 saw U.S. consumers receive over 3.8 billion robocalls, according to the latest Robocall Index from YouMail, a leading robocall protection app. This figure represents a 3.3% increase from October and an 18% decrease compared to the same month in 2024, marking the first rise in robocall volume after seven months of decline since it peaked in April 2025.

The data highlights that the first eleven months of 2025 accounted for 48.4 billion robocalls overall, putting the total volume nearly on par with 2024.

Daily Averages and Trends

On average, there were 128.7 million robocalls per day, translating to an alarming 1,490 robocalls per second. This represents a 6.7% increase in daily averages from the previous month’s 120.6 million robocalls.

Alex Quilici, the CEO of YouMail, expressed his disappointment, stating, "We'd hoped for an eighth consecutive month of declining robocall volume, but instead saw a meaningful rise this month. Progress feels like it's two steps forward and one step back."

Unwanted Calls on the Rise

Unwanted robocall volume has surged to roughly 56% of all robocalls in November, signifying a 4.5% increase over the month. The breakdown of robocalls for November illustrates the increasing nuisance:

  • - Notifications: 1.03 billion (27% of calls, +5.9%)
  • - Payment Reminders: 0.63 billion (16% of calls, -9.1%)
  • - Scams and Telemarketing: 2.18 billion (56% of calls, +4.5%)

This means that nearly 2.2 billion calls classified as scams or telemarketing, which consumers typically aim to avoid, increased by approximately 100 million calls.

The Most Annoying Calls

November continued the trend of annoying calls revolving around loan offers, specifically related to pre-approved debt relief. Typical messages included offers for significant amounts of hardship loan funding without prior consent from the consumers. Such unsolicited calls pose challenges, as they often disguise themselves within legal frameworks while bombarding numbers that never sought such financial assistance.

The Source of the Data

This analysis of robocalls is derived from YouMail’s extensive data collection, which utilizes advanced technology and feedback from users to gauge robocall activity across the nation. YouMail's Robocall Index serves as a vital tool in determining trends in unwanted calls, often cited by the FCC for national insights.

YouMail’s protection services aim to safeguard users by blocking unwanted robocalls. The app acts by not allowing the phone to ring, instead playing an out-of-service message tailored to mislead robocallers, providing a sense of safety and peace to consumers.

In conclusion, while there was hope for a decline in robocalls, November's uptick signals ongoing challenges faced by U.S. consumers against a backdrop of persistent telemarketing and scam threats. With robocalls now more prevalent than ever, the push for effective consumer protections and vigilance against such calls remains paramount.
