Goodwill of Delaware Launches an Innovative Opportunity Hub
On December 15, 2025, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County proudly opened its reimagined Opportunity Hub in Wilmington. This initiative comes at a critical time when job seekers in the region are navigating a rapidly evolving labor market characterized by new skill requirements and fluctuating wages. The Hub aims to equip individuals with essential tools, knowledge, and resources to enhance their employment prospects effectively.
The grand opening saw active participation from esteemed figures including U.S. Senators Chris Coons and Lisa Blunt Rochester, along with U.S. Representative Sarah McBride. Their presence highlighted the urgency for high-impact workforce mobility services that can adapt to changing times.
A New Era for Job Seekers
Replacing the former Job Resource Center, the Opportunity Hub features a contemporary design centered around personalized career navigation. Here, residents can access tailored guidance, along with cutting-edge digital career tools, including artificial intelligence resources to simplify the job search process. This supportive environment aims to empower individuals by creating clear pathways to more promising careers.
Colleen Morrone, President and CEO of Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County, emphasized the significance of this launch: "The tools provided at the Opportunity Hub are essential in today's rapidly changing job market. Individuals require straightforward, pertinent assistance to navigate their employment journey, and that is exactly what the Hub offers from day one."
The Goodwill Opportunity Accelerator®
At the heart of the Opportunity Hub is the Goodwill Opportunity Accelerator®, a structured three-step program designed to help job seekers assess their strengths, plan their career paths, and ultimately launch themselves into fulfilling employment. This program not only helps individuals build new skills but also provides ongoing support as they transition into new roles. Job seekers will also find openings through Goodwill Staffing Services, connecting them with hiring employers in diverse industries.
The initiative received substantial backing with a $1,128,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to support Goodwill's mission. The complete redesign of the Opportunity Hub cost a total of $491,580, with a significant portion funded through this federal grant.
Digital Tools for Broader Access
In addition to in-person support, Goodwill has enhanced its digital platform, Goodwill Connect, which will provide users with access to valuable career resources from anywhere with an internet connection. The platform features tools like skill assessments and numerous training opportunities, including courses on Google AI Essentials.
A noteworthy integration within Goodwill Connect is the Occupational Mobility Explorer created in collaboration with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia and Cleveland. This innovative tool allows job seekers to analyze wage potential across various occupations, identify transferable skills, and plan realistic career transitions based on regional labor market insights.
Morrone remarked, "In our current economy, multiple pathways to opportunity are essential. The Opportunity Hub offers a welcoming and accessible environment for support, along with digital tools that provide anytime, anywhere assistance. Together, they create a more robust pipeline to job opportunities and career advancement."
Community Engagement and Future Plans
The opening ceremony drew a crowd, and media coverage ensured that the message of opportunity and accessibility reached many. Following the launch event, the Hub will host several community engagement activities, including a Networking Breakfast in collaboration with the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and an Open House event showcasing various resources available to the public.
The Opportunity Hub represents more than just a traditional job-search center; it is a transformative space where individuals can cultivate confidence, articulate their professional goals, and make actionable strides toward a more secure financial future. Morrone noted, "Each person’s journey through workforce development is unique. The Opportunity Hub combines essential tools, personalized guidance, and support to assist individuals in moving forward with assurance."
