GiGi's Playhouse Partners with Harry Moon Books to Launch a New Inclusive Storybook
A New Chapter of Inclusion
GiGi's Playhouse is excited to introduce a groundbreaking collaborative book titled "GiGi's Journey," co-created with the beloved children's series Harry Moon Books. This enchanting story features GiGi, an eighth-grader with Down syndrome, inspired by the vibrant life of 22-year-old GiGi Gianni from South Barrington, Illinois, the namesake of GiGi's Playhouse. The book officially launches just in time for World Down Syndrome Day on March 21, aiming to educate and inspire children everywhere through its relatable narrative.
"I'm so excited to be a part of Harry Moon," expresses GiGi Gianni. "I can't wait for everyone to read about the magical adventures I, Harry, and GiGi's Playhouse embark on!" This unique narrative will take readers into the fictional town of Sleepy Hollow, presenting a heartwarming tale that encapsulates themes of friendship, courage, and the importance of celebrating individual differences. It aims to foster awareness and understanding of Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities among young readers.
Available in various formats—including eBook, audiobook, and hardcover—the chapter book offers delightful adventures while conveying essential messages related to kindness, inclusion, and acceptance. The partnership between GiGi's Playhouse and Harry Moon Books marks a significant milestone in promoting these values. Nancy Gianni, founder and Chief Belief Officer of GiGi's Playhouse, emphasizes how this initiative aligns with their mission to promote inclusion and kindness: "We're thrilled to see GiGi's story brought to life in such an inspiring way. This collaboration encourages children to celebrate diversity."
Moreover, Steve Goerth, VP of Strategic Partnerships at Harry Moon Books, shared his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that it represents "a dream come true." Through this partnership, the two organizations aim to extend their influence into educational institutions and community events, which will include read-a-thons, engaging book signings, and interactive contests. This approach aims to help instill empathy and inclusion in young readers across various platforms.
Additionally, "GiGi's Journey" will come equipped with a comprehensive Teacher's Guide that includes classroom activities and discussion prompts, empowering educators to seamlessly weave the book’s themes into their curriculum. This educational component aims to enhance the understanding of diversity among students and foster deeper discussions regarding inclusivity within classrooms.
