Introduction

On June 28, 2025, DDR Co., Ltd., based in Toranomon, Tokyo, is set to host an engaging educational event titled "AI-Based Legal Education for Children." Aimed at middle and high school students, this workshop seeks to combine legal principles with technology by utilizing AI tools like ChatGPT.

Background of the Event

In today’s digital world, children face a multitude of online challenges ranging from social media conflicts to issues stemming from online gaming. A report from the Ministry of Education indicates that the number of recognized cases of bullying has exceeded 730,000 in the fifth year of the Reiwa era, while statistics from the Metropolitan Police Department reveal that 1,665 children fell victim to crimes connected to social media.

These troubling figures highlight a significant issue: many children are unaware of their own rights and the basic rules and laws that govern their actions. Unfortunately, current educational systems are not adequately addressing digital complications and the essential legal literacy needed in this rapidly changing landscape.

AI and Legal Education Initiative

In response to this pressing need, DDR has devised an innovative classroom experience where students can learn about laws through meaningful interactions with AI. This workshop will enable children to engage with topics applicable to their lives, fostering understanding of personal rights and critical thinking skills. The goal is to empower youth to protect themselves and their surroundings through knowledge and dialogue.

Instructor Profile

The workshop will be led by Koji Murata, a graduate of Keio University’s Faculty of Business and a former practitioner at Deloitte Tohmatsu, where he specialized in supporting public offerings. He has since founded various legal tech startups and is currently the CEO of AIDAO as well as the head of AI development at DDR.

"Modern children are facing issues that differ from what we encountered during our youth, including social media and in-game challenges. The key now lies in their ability to determine their choices and make informed decisions. In this classroom setting, we will leverage AI to provide relatable examples that allow them to learn about laws as a personal affair. My hope is to instill the ability to think and choose wisely through engaging experiences."
