Frey Ranch Unveils The Harvester Series: Second Harvest Wheat Whiskey

Introducing Frey Ranch Harvester Series: Second Harvest

On September 25, 2025, Frey Ranch Distillery made waves in the whiskey community with the announcement of their latest creation: the Harvester Series Second Harvest. This limited-edition wheat whiskey exemplifies the essence of farm-to-glass production, uniquely crafted using grains grown directly on the Frey Ranch in Northern Nevada. This is not just another whiskey; it's a story of sustainability, tradition, and craftsmanship.

Frey Ranch Distillery stands out as one of the few authentic farm-to-glass whiskey producers in America. The newly launched Second Harvest coincides with the distillery's annual whiskey harvest, where co-founder and whiskey farmer Colby Frey gathers corn, wheat, barley, rye, and oats from his family’s fields, ensuring each grain is nurtured with care.

In collaboration with the talented Master Blender Nancy Fraley, Colby and his wife Ashley meticulously selected individual barrels to forge a whiskey that resonates with both novice consumers and seasoned aficionados. Unlike its predecessor, the inaugural First Harvest which focused on a robust rye blend, the Second Harvest shifts the spotlight to a smoother, predominantly wheat formulation. This new blend exhibits a softer, creamier mouthfeel and a naturally sweeter flavor profile that’s ideal for savoring neat.

With Nancy’s expertise leading the blending process, the selected barrels ranged in age from just over four years to close to nine years, marrying the richness of history with innovative whiskey production techniques. The resulting blend comprises 52.5% of 100% wheat whiskey, supported by a mélange of four grain bourbon, un-malted and malted barley whiskeys, and a hint of quad malt whiskey, amounting to a crafted spirit that’s not only diverse but also intriguing.

At 122.44 proof, the Second Harvest entices the senses with aromas reminiscent of hot chocolate mingled with crème de menthe, hints of muddled mint, whipped cream, and a layering of banana pudding embellished with lemon meringue. A delightful combination of caramel macchiato, almond butter, and nougat adds depth to the whisky's bouquet. The tasting experience continues with sweet notes of Sierra Nevada alfalfa honey, shortbread, crème brûlée, and toasted marshmallow, finishing with light citrus notes from freshly cut tangerine peel.

The sleek design of the bottle pays homage to the Frey family's agricultural roots, featuring a vintage tractor topper – an eco-conscious choice crafted from recycled metal. The packaging mirrors the silos that delineate the vibrant landscape of the Frey Ranch, showcasing their commitment to sustainable practices. The family's mantra, “Be good to the land and the land will be good to you,” is a testament to their philosophy and dedication to the land that nurtures their spirits.

The Frey Ranch Harvester Series: Second Harvest is set at a suggested retail price of $249.99, with only 600 numbered bottles available for whiskey enthusiasts and collectors. In the interest of fairness, the distillery has limited purchases to one bottle per person, ensuring that many fans can have the opportunity to experience this exclusive release. A special lottery will provide access to an initial 333 bottles online from September 26 until September 29, while an additional 150 bottles will be obtainable in the Frey Ranch Tasting Room exclusively on September 27. A few select retailers across Nevada and California will soon join in on the distribution.

In conclusion, Frey Ranch's Harvester Series: Second Harvest is more than just a whiskey; it's a manifestation of craftsmanship, heritage, and a deep-rooted respect for sustainable farming. This exquisite spirit promises to captivate the palates of collectors and casual drinkers alike, solidifying Frey Ranch Distillery's position as a trailblazer in the world of American whiskey.
