Promoting Mental Health Awareness with #IGetIt Campaign
In a powerful move to advance mental health awareness, SixDegrees.org, a nonprofit organization established by acclaimed actor Kevin Bacon, has unveiled the #IGetIt initiative. This nationwide campaign is dedicated to normalizing mental health discussions and enhancing accessibility to support systems. By engaging celebrities, nonprofits, and communities, #IGetIt aims to convey the message that nobody has to face their mental health struggles alone.
Launched on May 1, 2025, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the #IGetIt movement is a key component of SixDegrees.org's Degree Shift program. It seeks to ignite genuine conversations around mental health and equip individuals with everyday tools to bolster their well-being. Kevin Bacon, the movement's founder, states, "Mental health affects us all. It's vital to discover what helps us reset and remain grounded during challenging times."
Collaboration and Partnerships
The #IGetIt campaign has garnered participation from notable actors, including Rachelle Lefevre, mental health advocates like the Frost family, and various brands, including Natural Life. These participants share their personal strategies for managing stress and staying grounded on social media, thus inspiring others to engage in the conversation.
To maximize the campaign's reach and effectiveness, SixDegrees.org has partnered with 13 nonprofits with varying focuses in mental health. These include organizations providing eating disorder treatments, support for veterans, student-athletes, musicians, and others facing unique challenges. Stacy Huston, Executive Director of SixDegrees.org, emphasizes the campaign’s core objective: "Our goal with #IGetIt is to flood social media with strategies and resources that speak directly to people's needs. We acknowledge numerous nonprofits are working within the mental health sector, and this initiative is designed to amplify their expertise and outreach to a broader audience."
Engaging Conversations
Throughout May, SixDegrees.org will host a series of discussions titled
The Impact Lounge Mental Health Conversations that Connect Us on YouTube. Every Wednesday, new episodes will feature changemakers from partner nonprofits, exploring current trends in mental health and the distinctive challenges and opportunities prevalent in their respective fields. Recently, the organization hosted a LinkedIn Live session with Dr. Chris Mosunic, Chief Clinical Officer at Calm, who is also an official partner of the #IGetIt movement.
Beyond social media engagement, SixDegrees.org has compiled a comprehensive resource guide filled with accessible hotlines, podcasts, books, videos, and more, covering a wide array of mental health topics. Available for download at
