SINEXCEL's Significant Leap in Battery Energy Storage
In a remarkable advancement for energy management, SINEXCEL has completed the grid connection of a massive battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 107.12 MW/428.48 MWh in Guangyuan, Sichuan Province. This project is set to transform energy utilization for the aluminum industry, particularly benefiting Zhongfu Industrial, a leading aluminum producer.
Addressing Energy Challenges in Aluminum Production
The primary aluminum production process is known for its heavy energy demands, requiring 13 to 15 MWh for every ton produced. Electricity expenses account for almost 40% of the total production costs, posing a significant financial burden on manufacturers. Moreover, sudden power outages can lead to catastrophic losses, with potential damages reaching millions of yuan due to electrolyte freezing. The deployment of SINEXCEL's energy storage solutions is designed to tackle these energy challenges head-on.
By storing electricity during off-peak hours and discharging it during peak periods, Zhongfu Industrial is expected to save approximately 140 yuan for every ton of aluminum produced. Overall, the yearly savings for the company will exceed 60 million yuan, simultaneously decreasing CO₂ emissions by approximately 52,000 tons annually.
Cutting-Edge Technology for Extreme Conditions
The system at the heart of this project employs 104 SINEXCEL units of the 1,725 kW Power Conversion System (PCS), working in tandem with 5 MWh battery containers in an efficient DC-coupled architecture. The PCS is engineered for reduced power operation, optimizing its lifespan under the harsh demands of the industrial environment.
Key Features of SINEXCEL's PCS:
- - Rapid Response: With response times in milliseconds, the PCS guarantees uninterrupted backup power during network anomalies, avoiding costly production downtimes.
- - High Efficiency: Achieving a maximum efficiency of 98.5%, the system contributes to significant long-term energy savings.
- - Robust Stability: Equipped with an IP54 protection rating, it withstands the dust-heavy environments typical of aluminum smelting, thus preventing premature aging that is often seen in conventional systems.
The SINEXCEL 1,725 kW PCS is fully CE, VDE 4110/4120, and EN 50549 certified for European markets, along with additional network compliance certifications across the United States, Australia, Japan, and Thailand. Cumulatively, SINEXCEL has delivered more than 1 GW of systems worldwide.
A Benchmark for Sustainable Industrial Transformation
Whether powering the largest wind integration project in Latvia or facilitating this innovative CI installation, the SINEXCEL 1,725 kW PCS has consistently proven its adaptability. With a presence in over 60 countries and an installed capacity exceeding 17 GW/50 GWh, SINEXCEL remains at the forefront of providing reliable, high-performance equipment for utility and industrial projects globally.
