This year’s event witnessed an impressive turnout of international professionals, with 353 experts from 36 countries participating. Director-General Kuo Chao-chung emphasized the ministry's intent to bridge academic knowledge with industry practice, thereby nurturing talent capable of advancing AI applications. This reiteration of commitment signals Taiwan's ambition to grow its AI ecosystem further.

However, challenges remain, as pointed out by Chiu Chui-hui, Director-General of the Industrial Development Administration. While Taiwan ranks fourth globally for AI infrastructure, it falls significantly lower in terms of available talent and commercialization efforts. The Best AI Awards competition, with a selective award rate of just 7.4%, is designed to stimulate practical AI adoption and advance the professional development of participants.

Winning entries highlighted AI's versatility, demonstrating innovative applications across various sectors, including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), manufacturing, healthcare, retail, education, and finance. Significant themes emerged around AI and the Internet of Things (AIoT) and edge AI integration, paving the way for future advancements and applications.

The MOEA intends to institutionalize the Best AI Awards as an annual event to further foster Taiwan's AI landscape. Alongside the competition, matchmaking sessions at COMPUTEX are set to connect participants with more than 20 venture capitalists and buyers, increasing opportunities for investment and collaboration.

Through these initiatives, Taiwan is poised to reaffirm its position as a leading AI hub in the global arena. Stay updated by following the official Best AI Awards LinkedIn page for the latest news and developments on Taiwan’s journey to becoming a premier destination for AI innovation.
