Rifras Sports School Expands to Tottori
In an exciting development for children in Tottori, Rifras Corporation, a prominent sports school operator based in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, has opened its first sports school in the 44th prefecture. Starting from July 22nd, the "Dance School Couleur" has commenced in Yonago City, marking a significant milestone for Rifras in its mission to promote various sports initiatives across Japan.
What is Rifras Sports School?
Rifras Sports School operates under a guiding philosophy of "acknowledge, praise, encourage, and inspire." The program aims at fostering an enjoyable sports experience for children while systematically eliminating corporal punishment, verbal abuse, and a results-first mentality. Through this inclusive approach, the school works to improve children’s non-cognitive skills such as leadership and teamwork.
Currently, Rifras Sports School offers a range of programs across 44 prefectures, featuring 13 different sports including soccer, baseball, and basketball. There are approximately 70,000 registered members nationwide as of March 2025, including franchise membership.
About Dance School Couleur
The Dance School Couleur caters to children starting from age three. Its curriculum emphasizes the development of non-cognitive skills like greeting manners, leadership, teamwork, self-management, and problem-solving abilities, while also focusing on essential dance skills.
By moving rhythmically to music, participants develop their sense of rhythm and flexibility, contributing to enhanced physical abilities and overall fitness. Joining classmates in choreographed dances fosters teamwork and communication skills, while performing on stage provides kids with a profound sense of achievement. Dance School Couleur strives to enrich children’s lives through the art of dance, facilitating personal growth.

Understanding Non-Cognitive Skills
Non-cognitive skills, referred to as "life skills" or "human power," encompass essential faculties necessary for thriving in society. Rifras defines five key non-cognitive skills: greeting manners, leadership, teamwork, self-management, and problem-solving ability. The organization aims to cultivate these skills, allowing students to thrive independently.
In collaboration with experts in sports psychology, Rifras has also developed a system called "Mirabo" to measure these non-cognitive skills annually. This enables children, parents, and instructors to track growth and devise plans for skill enhancement.
Overview of the Trial Sessions
The trial sessions held on July 19th and 20th, 2025, saw an overwhelming turnout of over 130 children eager to participate. Many attendees expressed excitement for the program, with numerous request to join the dance classes, resulting in an initial group of 50 children kicking off their dancing journey.
